McGeady

  1. An article in today's Irish Independent says that McGeady needs to leave Celtic in order to further progress his career

Do you agree with this or can he continue to improve while staying at Celtic? I think we can get more of an improvement out of him but for what ever reason he's not been at his best this season.

I'd like to see him stay (and work on his final ball) but if someone was to put in a big bid for him then I'd be happy if the board accepted it - every player has their price after all.

  2. i think that with the down turn in the economy and the fact that he has had a 'not so good' a season...it might be a good idea to sell for a good price if it came in..but id love to see him stay and put in a fantastic season next year.

  3. i dont rate him anyway. he'll get a good championship club down in england. maybe we'll get 2 or 3 million for him.

  4. all the talk of getting 7-8 million for him is long gone now - tbh i dont think it would be worth shipping him for 2 or 3 million - id rather he stayed - maybe under a different manager we'd see the best of him on a consistent basis

  5. I'd hate to see McGeady leave, albeit he hasn't had the greatest season but no one at Celtic has (except Brown).

But hes still better than most of the current team, and if we have a clear out and get some better players for him to play with i reckon he could be brilliant.

  6. He should stay if Bilic comes

Bilic is the guy we need should strachan go or maybe strachan should move up one and BIlic come in as manager as Strachan has brought success

  7. Its obvious he and the manager still have their problems, but if i was to pick one to stay it would be McGeady,as we have seen before the talent he has,and under a different manager he could florish again.

So in short,no id hate to see McGeady leave.

  8. I'd let him go. He spits the dummy out the pram every week. Decent talent but if he can't take a telling off his manager and that effects his performance we should cut him loose.

Don't have a clue what we'll get for him. Possible replacements could be McCourt,Maloney, Stephen Hunt or Damien Duff (fitness is as problem with him though.....still worth a risk).

  9. I think he should stay with us just now. Leaving too early will ruin your career, it happened with Liam Miller.

get rid of him, he does * all 9 times out of 10 anyway. he'll skin a player or two then when theres a pass on he'll try and skin a few more and lose the ball, then moan at the referee cos someone had the nerve to put in a tackle

  10. Where would he go?? top 6 or 8 in epl? dont think so he will stay and hopefully
flourish next year, why leave celtic for obscurity in the bottom of the epl? as
paddybhoy says liam miller is the benchmark imo, aiden will stay but i think alot depends on wgs and what is said in the next few weeks between them about his thoughts on next season and whether aiden is in them, and theres the CHAMPS LEAUGE if were in or out may be a deciding factor for both parties. Im away for a lye down now....48hrs to go......

  11. Most of you probably didn't read it, but I posted an article about calculating a player's worth. I wonder how much it'll cost us to keep McGeady for another season - or for that fact how much it has cost us this season.

Since his valuation has dropped about £5m we should start there - any sabre-weilding baseball fans here?

  12. Might be best for both parties for an amicable split.

I think one of the biggest flaws at Celtic in the past 10 years has been loyalty from both Celtic and the players to the cause. Sometimes relationships between the club become stale and it's best to part ways with the club being reimbursed with decent money they can then reinvest, like going down the route an Ajax or Porto does.

I'm a huge fan of him personally, purely for the fact he has all the natural talent in the world and know what he's capable of. He's more than good enough for the Premiership, it's evolving into a consistent performer that a constant end product which is the next step for him.

  13. Exactly, but how long will that take him?

  14. i`d like to see mcgeady stay and see what a better manager can get out of him. if he does leave should be able to pick up damien duff without much trouble.

  15. strachan has made mcgeady the player he is, mcgeady even said it in an interview. something about when he listened to strachan instead of doing his own thing he played better and became a better player

  16. i think tommy burns deserves more credit than strachan. anyway results don`t lie, so strach`s mince

  17. I'd sell him. Don't rate him. Never have. He cant track back. Constantly leaves his own left back 2 v 1 with the opposition. He makes the Left back over lap, then does his usual trick, step over with the right, then left, then cut inside. Loses the ball to the two men covering, who then in turn play it up the left. Meanwhile he looks at Naylor/O'Dea, and wants them to run like * for 80 yards to win back the ball that he has lost. Dont think a big club in England would touch him. A newcastle or birmingham may be his best hope. If they bid, i'd drive him down myself

  18. I would'nt sell McGeady this summer as i don't think it would be as easy to replace him as people think. He hasn't had a good season but then again who has

  19. so your saying caldwell hasnt had a good season
