Crosas

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Rosleabhoy, Jun 4, 2009.

  1. We discussed him earlier in the season and i was a little critical of his displays...in terms of his stomach for a "fight" when games get tough and his strength on the ball. He is a good passer, with time on the ball.

I stick by this and would say he has a long way to go before he can be considered a first choice at the club.

  2. Probably what we're all thinking.

Still young and still adapting to Scotland so he needs time to develop physically. He's probably not too far off.

In a lot of games he benefited from playing with Brown as he got a bit of protection and his talent showed.

  3. Agreed. I was told by many on here though that a midfield with him and brown would "run all over Rangers"! I stated this was perhaps a little optimistic and was shouted down by quite a few.

I think a Brown and Robson midfield centre would have been a title winning partnership for us...sadly that couldn't happen due to injury.

  4. When things got shakey mid/end-season he was severely over-hyped by a large chunk of Celtic fans.

His potential was huge but it surprised me how many people were adamant that he was Celtics Iniesta.

I would love to be proved wrong about him but i honestly think he's lightweight for the SPL. I don't think many players develop a stomach for a crunching tackle...It's in you or not.

  5. In terms of when we play any sort of decent football I think it has to be him or Donati who plays with Scott Brown, however they both have faults

Donati seems to dwell for far too long on the ball, often resulting in him loosing it - well last season he did but seemed to have lost this problem when he was back in the team before injury - when he was arguably our best player for a period

Crosas can pass the ball very quickly and accurately over both short and long distance, however as you said he is extremely lightweight, and seems to be shoved off of the ball at times

both are good players though, and should feature next year

  6. I think he's good enough to be considered a first team player personally. He took a huge chunk of blame for the game against Rangers at Ibrox when in fact no one performed. He also had a fairly poor game against Dundee United at Parkhead and some people seemed to make their mind up on him after that.

He's still young and still adapting but with a full pre season under his belt he should be ready to go. If we bring in a manager that wants to play on the deck possession football then he'll play more often than not.

  7. For me Donati has no future. Poor imo

  8. I said it earlier in the season. He gets pushed around far too easily. Good passer but he might need to harden himself up.

  9. that's what I think.

Some games this season he impressed, others he seemed to be missing, but given his age and having to adapt to the Scottish game then I think he'll come good for us.

Was overhped by some but overall I think he'll turn out be a decent signing for us.

  10. I think he looked good against poorer teams at CP when he had plenty of space.

  11. i believe crosas is a good player and he will prove it in time but he is young and needs time as with most players who come from a different culture / language / country / weather / style of football but he has shown guts in taking the chance to come here and give it a go unlike so many other players who dopnt bother to give our game a chance so he gets my respect there . We are too quick sometimes to judge players and id like to see us give players a fairer crack of the whip at times because if they get time and a chance and dont do it then cool but they must get a chance and time before people judge them

  12. Totally agree....but can we do this with him in the team most weeks when going for a title?

  13. Hes a great player

  14. Disagree. Good potential though.

  15. He's nothing special, can pass a ball but so should the full team at this level. Hope him all the best in the pre-season though and he grows into the team. We need more energy and fight from him if he's to be a Celtic midfielder.

  16. His main asset is his ability to know what hes going to do with the ball before he gets it. Then he has the technique to make that pass, as Josh said both short and long.

I think his best spell was at the start when he was in and out of the team. He looked great in a game vs Motherwell at Fir Park. He popped the ball about with first-time passes and kept the momentum of the team going and we looked great.

  17. Remember stan petrov first coming to the club took time to adapt and look how he turned out and the player he is now

not saying crosas in the same bracket as stan but he does have something i think time to adapt should be giving and honestly see him being a star as youth on his side ....

  18. He's vastly overrated. If he was from Wishaw instead of Catalunya I suspect the praise wouldn't be so gushing from some fans.

  19. Yeah we all hope he makes it but not sure we can carry him as a first choice at the moment...assuming we make signings.
