    last night at celtic park, they were doing the practice for the opening ceremony and the wee guy told the crowd that they would play the national anthem. well, the crowd was expecting flower of Scotland but were dismayed to hear GSTQ being belted out. they all sat down and started to boo.

    good start then.... :rolleyes:

    my sister-in-law took her grandweans over and was telling me. :smiley-laughing002:

    I was very emotional watching all the News coverage of Glasgow,my place of birth,its looks so grand!

    Oh and on the One Show,which is based in Glasgow for the next 3 days,cool!

    What a crock of *. 'Great Britain' aren't even taking part in these games. Scotland, England, Wales and the O6 however are. Seeing as how the games are actually being hosted in Scotland it should be our anthem that gets played.

    It's the Commonwealth Games, the Head of the Commonwealth is the Queen. It then follows that, that particular song will be sung whether we like it or not. It has nothing to do with 'Great Britain' in that context.

    When she croaks it the Head won't automatically be whoever follows her into the Monarchy. She's also not the Head of State for numerous member countries.

    People really need to look past GSTQ and get behind the Scottish athletes, with the referendum coming up it should be about celebrating any Scottish success and maybe get those undecided in the YES camp with some national sporting pride.
