BoBo Balde Reports Celtic to Fifa

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by zmcfc, Dec 21, 2008.

  1. Everything from the back essentially is distributed through Caldwell - one of the reasons he is arguably better than Balde. Also Bobo wasn't known as a bomb scare for nothing, and that was even in his finer days.

It's true that with every year the rose tinted glasses looking over Bobo have got rosier, and he did have cracking games. For example when we came up against the less physical sides (the Juventus game) Bobo destroyed their attack (and Sutton their defence!) That was the thuggish side to that team but "more clever" opposition knew how to exploit it (ahem Porto). Arguably that was a terminal flaw in the entire set up, with only Larsson having the technical class to give us a plan 'B'.

    Anyway I digress!

In my opinion Bobo at his peak was an incredible defensive weapon, but once his achilles heel was discovered, and as the years passed and his physical and sharpness declined, combined with Strachans obsession with even defenders being very technically minded, Bobo time was up. That he languished in the reserves was not due to some kind of hater-fabricated Strachan bust up or example of Strachan being stubborn. It was simply that Bobos time was up.

The crux is that Bobo was not a good enough Proffesional footballer to deal with it. We've all heard stories about the money that he returns to Africa so maybe money is a bigger factor than we appreciate. It is clear he was unneeded and had opportunities to go - this speaks volumes to me.

  2. I believe, and I suspect you do, that Balde would not have been ragdolled by Cousin.

I don't think he would necessarily have cost us games because Mick is a pretty poor footballer too.

  3. I think what sets Mick apart from Bobo on the purely technical level is Micks ability to just play the simple pass to the left back, Caldwell or Hartley. How many times did Bobo have the ball at his feet in his prime and your heart would be in your mouth!

  4. Caldwell has had more than his fair share of howlers. Also I don't think it's fair to compare Bobo and Caldwell. Bobo's job was more the job Mick does - and Balde was better at it.

    I
Mick is hardly a technical player.

Balde did alright when he came back last season, we kept a clean sheet away from home for the first time in over a year. Given that a defender's job is to defend keeping clean sheets is often a good yard stick of the defence working well.

The crux is we don't know and everything else is speculation. The fact that the club want him to sign a confidentiality clause would seem to suggest that there are things he could reveal which would not paint the club in a good light.

  5. I was shouting to get Bobo back in the side last season for Caldwell:52:

Once he came in, he looked embarrassing to say the least and I was proved wrong. Caldwell has been great ever since.:50:

Hes * himself over, he had a choice, goto Birmingham take a few grand less a week and play footie or sit here and do * all and well do whatever to get him out. He wouldn't have lost 100grand if he hadn't been a greedy * in the first place.

  6. Mick knows his limitations, Balde thought he was Beckenbauer, thats the difference.

When Mick has the ball at feet you have confidence that he'll do the right thing with it. Balde, you grind your teeth until someone else had the ball. Big difference there

  7. Balde is a nightmare, not liked him since he got himself sent off in seville.

  8. Not for me. Mick's distribution is pretty poor imo.

  9. Bottom line is there is something going on at CFC. Now whether that is the board trying to cut wages or players behaving like 'idiots' as we have seen recently then something is not right....

It seems you need a trip to specsavers also  I was alluding to the McGeady situation and the perceived nonsense from Bobo.

  10. Oh and by the way I've had 3 full-time jobs and signed 3 confidentiality agreements! But err.... I'm not a famous footballer....

  11. It's difficult for me to quote the appropriate parts of your post.

Our defensive record hasn't been as great as you suggest - otherwise we wouldn't have gone 13 months without a clean sheet away from home prior to Bobo's inclusion.

I feel you also belittle Balde's performances for us under MON. He was a first pick in what was, then, the best Celtic team in many moons.

For me, and it's subjective, Mick is just as limited as Bobo in a footballing sense.

Does your confidentiality clause extend to when you left the company ?

  12. I didnt read yours or anyone elses earlier comments on Balde and I reponsed to comments you made directly to me when you quoted me. Maybe you should be clearer when you quote someone. I'll go to specsavers if you learn how to use the internet :56:

  13. I've had to sign confidentially agreements myself and studied the law around all this craic because I'm expected to sign one at any job with my qualification. In my case it extended to 1 year after I left the company but in engineering, 1 year is a very long time.

Martin, you are trying to put bells and whistles onto a once off performance and blow it up into something that it probably wasnt, you know better than that! He played other matches under GS and didnt keep clean sheets.

  14. I am off out to buy "Internet for Dummies".... What time is your appointment? :icon_mrgreen:

  15. :icon_mrgreen:

  16. thats not the question he should be asking hiself mate its do i want to play football :50:

  17. he knew he wasnt wanted at cP, he had his chance to move to brum, he didnt take it which was wrong, lets hope he * off in january.. from hero to villan
