On the Celtic History dvd it states that there was a vote between the Scottish top division clubs as to whether or not Celtic should be allowed to fly the Irish flag above Celtic Park and Rangers had the deciding vote. They voted yes and we were allowed to keep it flying.

I wouldn't care if the Union Jack was flown above Celtic Park. It's only a flag.

We are a Irish club based in Scotland

A union jack is a symbol of English imperialism and would go against everything the club stands for.

Exactly :50: to say we're an Irish club based in Scotland is a huge insult to all Scottish Celtic supporters.

We are British not by choice, in my opinion. And we were the first British team to win it, wether we wanted to British or not sadly.

Secondly, we have very proud and distinct Irish roots, poor question Andy.

That is my opinion and also the opinion of Billy McNeil the most successfull captain in Celtic history

We are based in Britain but our cultural identity is Irish, Celtic is used as a vehicle for the Irish community in Scotland to celebrate their roots.

I as a Celtic fan know our history and can form my own opinion and not blindly follow the PLC, led by a war criminal, like a sheep.

Well we can’t decide to be British when boasting about being the first British club to win the European Cup then at all other times, totally deny being British.

    We’re either British or we’re not.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I know we have allot of Irish roots etc. I’m not denying that. How is it a poor question? I’ve not been to Celtic Park in over a year and was asking a simple yet genuine question...:39:

Yes it's your opinion, but you're still wrong. If Billy McNeill thinks that then he is also wrong. But you'll need to show me a source if you want me to believe that McNeill actually said that. Celtic is a Scottish club based in Scotland with Irish links in the history. Fact.

In my eyes, as someone who wants independence we are not British. However when we are currently forced to be British and were also when we won the cup that made us the first British team to win it. That though does not imply that we want to be British just that we had no choice.

Sorry mate, thought you were having a dig. :fffs:

Well it might be your opinion but it’s not factually correct.

We play all our domestic games in Britain, not Ireland. our stadium is in Britain, not Ireland. Our training ground is in Britain, not Ireland. I could go on...

We have allot of roots in history from Ireland yes, but we are still a British club, fact!

So only Irish people living in Scotland are allowed to support Celtic? What about all the people from the rest of the globe that have no Irish links, yet support Celtic, are they not allowed following this club? Or do you see them as lesser supporters, just because they are not Irish?

Many flags are soaked in innocent blood.
Like I said, it's only flag and I wouldn't care if it was there. The only flag I'm interested in seeing flown at Celtic Park is the League Championship flag.

No way should we have the butchers apron flying above Celtic Park. That flag has nothing to do with Celtic other then act as a symbol of all the evils inflicted on the C(k)eltic peoples of Scotland and Ireland.
