The famine song again.

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Cfc-Ghod, Sep 28, 2008.

  1. The voice of reason! Well said mate.

I can understand why people want sectarian and racist chants stopped and I fully agree but we should make sure our own supporters heed the call before we start looking to the other side of the divide and trying to get them in bother for it.

We sort ourselves out and the job will be 10 times easier!

  2. its not just in scottish football this. in holland feyenoord sing ' gas the jews' to the ajax fans. theres not much we can do about it. there will always be hooligans in any society. let them sing and laugh about the millions that died of starvation during the famine. they have to live with the shame.

  3. alot of them don't have the ability to feel emotions like shame. its a DNA thing.

  4. i never watched the scumgers game the day.they are not worth the * on ma boot.if they did sing it again and they more or less did then that is what SCUM do.
leave them to sing it and let the authorities deal with the *.they have no class and never will .

    :56:ha ha true true.

  5. They are actually genetically the same as you (ie "Celtic"). It's so odd that they like to identify themselves as "British" ie German when they're not. Almost everybody in the British Isles is the same... grrr this bugs me (not you, them).

  6. heard this the day :(

  7. THIS HAS all turned so juvenile and pathetic...

Why are people making such a fuss - it's so pathetic.

First off - who are these people who are actually getting so upset when Rangers fans sing "the famine's over go home"... my grandparents were Irish immigrants, but i dont burst into tears and start complaining to everyone i can when i hear them singing it. i can recognise that it's a bit of abuse, so i just try and give some back. BIG FRIKIN' DEAL.

Second - what the * is all this complaining to the Irish consulate, and writing in to complain to the Scottish executive. Are Celtic and Rangers fans just a bunch of school-children, telling on each other to teacher?

    PATHETIC...

Typical political correctness - every one has to suffer and the whole world has to become unbelievably *, just because a few idiots can't take a bit of old-fashioned winding-up.

  8. It's racial abuse and shouldn't be allowed. Has anyone else saw the full version of the song?

  9. I'm afraid that, as long as we've got our own * ARSEHOLES singing IRA songs at away games we can't really complain about the scum. Many idiots on this forum support the singing of IRA songs and try to give you some sort of pathetic doe eyed version of romantic irish politics if you challenge them, in their world IRA leaders and activists were all a cross between Mother T and Robin Hood.

The thread poses the question why would they continue singing it when the club have asked them not too?
Why do hundreds of our own * sing IRA songs when the club repeatedly ask them not too?

    Same old story im afraid.

  10. Have you read the lyrics? If "The Famine is Over" was the most offensive part, a lot less people would be complaining.

Although I agree with you to an extent regarding the school children comment. Watching games for the sole reason of picking out songs is a little petty.

  11. This is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Anyway, football fans should be allowed to sing what they want. If they are decent enough they will not be like that lot but at the end of the days its a football match.

  12. Wrong.

  13. Its not wrong, its an opinion therefore cannot be wrong.

    So you are wrong.

  14. how can I be wrong for having the opinion that your opinion was wrong ?

  15. You said I was wrong, which is incorrect (wrong) as their is no way of proving that I am wrong!

    Or is thier a way?

  16. So, what you get up to the night then ?

  17. Goodbye.

  18. Maybe your opinion can't be wrong as such, but it certainly isn't right either.

In your opinion, people can go and sing about the Holocaust, WWII, 9/11 at football games ?

  19. As I said in the post you would hope that most sets of fans would have the deceny not to do such things and if they do then they are only bringing shame upon themeselves and their club. Fans shouldn't be restricted to what they can sing, it is leading to the downfall of atmosphere at football, along with other things.
