If that’s his only attribute that’s first team ready then hopeless would be a suitable description. Either way; it’s clear Rodgers doesn’t rate him and he only got a cameo against Livi to keep Tierney fresh for the playoff.

Here, infact, are we not over the loan limit for players?

You can’t blame clubs for not wanting to risk taking him on loan when he is very much an unknown entity. He hasnt played that much football. Im not going to judge him based off of other clubs maybe not wanting to loan him, more on what i’ve seen of his actual play… which has been good.

He looks like he has a real knack for trying to break the lines, always looks to play forward. We could use more of that. Would like to see more of him because I think from what we have seen its been nothing but promising.

Your original post was about “must be hopeless”. But have since gone on to say you’ve seen him play yourself. Which factually now you should know he isn’t “hopeless”.

so no it’s not a suitable description bud. Haha sometimes it’s okay to say “aye yeah maybe that’s too far” or “I’m wrong” :50:

I wonder if we only asked “international” clubs to take him on loan like with the Birmingham deal trying to get Yang and Inamura out there. Surely contacting a Falkirk or even dropping down a division and contacting Ayr etc. should have been on the table? Cos in that case then that would mean we don’t use up a loan spot? (If that was the worry otherwise when still trying to loan Kenny etc.)

I could be wrong bcoz loan system is really complicated to understand but I think bcoz he's not a homegrown player it doesn't matter where he goes and he still counts as 1 of the 6.

The wording is the only players except are either club trained (3 years at the club between 15 and 21). And players under 21 that also meet the club trained criteria.

So Welsh actually doesn't count as one of our 6 which I find crazy considering he's about 25.

Ahhh, kinda makes more sense the whole * about with tilio trying to make it permanent instead of a loan. Deary me. It makes it even more disastrous that there’s no one involved within the club that knows the ins and outs/legalities that didn’t have this all sorted august 1st ready to go

So if we've only used 3 of the 6 loans (assuming Welsh doesn't count) we could still loan out the guys who didn't make the EL squad to teams with their window still open?

As long as the buying/loaning team's window is still open, yes.

Hopefully get at least 30-45 minutes at the weekend.

Should have been loaned, poor decision to keep him if we're not playing him.

Would have made sense to loan him out at least till January especially after we brought in Sarrachi on loan the other way. But hey its just another little detail on the recent transfer window that Nicholson and company botched.

Listening to acsom today and they make a decent point about the transfer signings and how project players are all fine, but you have to have a plan for them and have the manager sign off, properly, on the player with the plan in mind.

We've effectively signed Inamura (and Shin) and * their careers for at least 12 months if not longer.
No plan or thought was taken for these deals

Totally agree. You can add Johnny Kenny to that list as well. Its clear he needs regular game time this season to have any long term chance at Celtic and so should have been loaned out after he signed his new deal this summer. But no they messed that one up as well by failing to sign a striker and indeed even selling Idah before the transfer window closed.

Begs the additional question, if the manager isn't really wanting them, then what's the pathway manager doing to ensure these projects are going to be ready for our first team?

People point the finger at Rodgers regarding Inamura, but the fact is, if he didn’t want him, then he shouldn’t have been signed. Likewise with Shin. People were basing their opinions off a few appearances, and even less than that in regards to Shin. Rodgers sees these guys every single day in training. The whole argument of “he didn’t sign them so won’t play them” doesn’t really stack up either. You just need to look at the starting lineups to see that.

pathway manager is essentially a gap between the first team and youth team set ups

With how Tierney is performing and given how long it seems like it'll take for him to be fully fit I'd be giving him a chance this weekend with Sarrachi.
