There is clearly a battle of egos between Rodgers and members of the board. The £26m spunked on Trusty, Engels & Idah has certainly not been value for money and the * on the board have tried the cheap or no option this season. Who signed Yamada and Inamura because clearly it wasn’t Rodgers. Arrogance, complacency and parsimony has come back to bite the parasites on the board. No way is Rodgers here after May and frankly I think 3 years of him is enough. The football on display is eye bleeding to say the least and his stubbornness and one dimensional approach is a major factor. However, the * in the boardroom are the main reason our club is going backwards. No ambition, no forward thinking in how to run a modern day football club. It’s all about the balance sheet. The club needs gutted top to bottom but if we are stuck with Desmond and his dinosaurs we are only going in one direction. Backwards. It’s time for change. We can’t continue to be run akin to something from North Korea where the custodians of the club the fans are treated with utter contempt and given no communication from Lord Lucan Desmond and mute Nicholson.

Who’s he then to play? And don’t say Nygren on the wing.

Totally broken the team that he inherited from Ange which was almost a settled team just requiring a few more quality signings to enhance it, think We are heading for another rebuild very soon.

Where was his replacement for the £17m winger we sold 2 months ago tonight? Or Kyogo?

He has to take blame. But there's absolutely no denying he has not been sufficiently backed this window. We've spent £3m and it's 27th August tomorrow. When was the last time that happened?

We’ve been beaten in Europe by worse than those 3 teams even if it was a decent draw at the time.

We also got a point away to arguably the form team in Europe at the time without our best centre half and in hindsight a point against that club Brugge side was actually a decent result.

To try and not give credit to Rodgers for Europe last season is just backing up his point that some will just never take to him.

Likewise, our football in the first 6 months of last season was some of the best we’ve seen in a long time. Even under Ange we had spells of turgid * and we got progressively worse, the same with each transfer window. Common theme.

That was over 9 months ago. The Bayern game (that we still lost) was the last good thing. It's all been downhill since then.

The * recruitment etc is also to blame but Rodgers is a massive part of the failing today

Very good post overall mate, but Rodgers has to take some of the blame for this. His team selections, game-management and general tactics have been poor now for a whole. He’s not showing us that he can change a game.

Canny accept that argument mate. We’ve hired a manager we know. We know the system he plays. It’s one that served us very well in Europe last year. It’s down to the board to give the manager the tools to play the system. They have utterly failed him. We actually did change at one point tonight and went to 3 at the back. It’s made no difference because we have zero quality in the final 3rd.

Maeda not doing his job is why we lost. Same as Idah, McCowan and numerous others.

Things happened tonight that Pep Guardiola couldn't legislate for.

Rodgers made mistakes but let's not act like.this is all on him. It isn't.

We actually drew the game 0-0 tonight. We could still have been playing in a fortnight and it would have been 0-0. We have no quality in the attacking areas. We’ve known it all summer.

Was it his decision to sell our best players and not replace them?

When you don't reinvest in quality then it's not going to be a fun team to watch.

True, last two years he was very clear that he has the finally say. Comes back to hunt him :giggle1:

Was most probably him that was stupid enough to spend 9m ond a 4m player because he is too poor to identify other players. Other managers are able to recruit better. Even managers that cost a fraction of him. If we only want to win domestically just hire a Robinson or McInnes :giggle1:

Its not solely down to who he picks though. Its how he asks them to play.

I dont know how any manager watching that game could not think after 20mins that we really needed to change what we were doing. But as I feared, we didnt really try anything different.

To me we really needed to get the ball up the pitch more quickly and more directly and sacrifice losing some possession in order to try and play in a more dangerous part of the pitch and to put more pressure on their defence.

    * knows mate, I'm at a total loss other than theories.

He HASNT had sufficient backing, but that is zero excuse to deflect away from his failings over the last two games.

And dont even get me started on the majority of the team tonight ...

A massive part of it is though. Penalities aside, I'm not going to blame the 3 players for missing pens, that happens. But the other 210 minutes+ was brutal. Absolutely honking and it's not all because we don't have good wingers.
