Disagree with others- this should make the board spend.. the board are good at making good money and 15/20 mill investment secures 50 mill.. they will be all over that

It's the only possible logic that would explain sitting on their hands for so long if it was to see the level of opponent, but even then we should be preparing for the tie no matter who we draw as we should aim to be at our strongest for such a crucial fixture.

Great draw. Now the board better * strengthen so qualification is as good as certain instead of a gamble.

I mean, technically speaking, if @Blochairnbhoy thinks there’s a 50/50 chance, then he’s correct to say he doesn’t expect us to qualify. If it was 51/49 then yes, he’d be expecting that we do, but he’s not wrong in what he said…

He’s down in the dumps enough as it is without folk criticising his linguistics :56:

Yes especially considering it was hardly psg, city or Madrid we were gonna draw in the play off round.. an opportunity for the club to make money and Rodgers to hold court on the biggest stage should focus the minds and get everyone moving forward together.

Surely if he implies it's 50/50, he's completely balanced on who goes through. He didn't say 51/49 that we weren't gonna get through.. I stand by my initial pedantic remarks

And a draw like this, should surely strengthen Brendan's chances of getting a new contract with Celtic.

Not sure if they've improved their squad from last season but we're definitely weaker ar the business end of the park.. we need to rectify that.. now!

Best draw, but they managed a good qualifying campaign to get there last season overcoming Midtylland..

Good draw, should see us into the league stage I reckon, just need reinforcements in now to help out on the forward areas.

Good draw. I take it we are at home first leg ?? Hit them for 3 or 4 at home and that should be it.

Took five off them the last time. I mean, this should be a skoosh case.

I never said he mentioned it being 51/49 in favour of either outcome. As you’ve pointed out it’s completely balanced in his view, so he therefore cannot reasonably be seen to expect either outcome. He could claim to be hopeful, but not expectant. The scale would have to tip slightly before there is a more likely outcome for him to expect. It is accurate to therefore state he views it as 50/50 and does not expect us to qualify.

So apologies, but I’ll raise the pedantic stakes here and state that you would be wrong to stick by your initial remark :101:

Anyone who thinks the board take into account the St Mirren performance/weak team or the UCL draw are giving the board more credit than they deserve.

Even with this kind draw we can't go into the qualifiers with Yang and idah as first pick

It’s a great draw but would be wary of complacency. Slovan aren’t a walkover regardless of last year’s result and a trip to Kazakhstan would be brutal.

Home leg also worries as they’d just have to shut up shop and hope to hold us with the low block with the away goal rule gone.

We're probably overthinking it as well though just since we don't trust our attacking players.

In reality Yang, Forrest, McCowan, Bernardo, Engels and Yamada would probably walk into these teams as their best players.

These teams players are probably the standard of Kenny, Tilio, Montgomery, Welsh, Murray, Doohan etc
