With reports we've only sold 30,000 tickets for this friendly it seems we've reached saturation point, we used to get free games on our ST's, not anymore and I just delete emails from Celtic about new kit, the latest being pre-match kit pish.
Are other fans boycotting this game deliberately or maybe just can't afford everything Celtic sell whilst having a life outside Parkhead.

You'll still get people that defend it but it's outrageous that this isn't included in the ST. So out of touch from the people running the club or whoever sorts this kind of stuff out.

Tbh 30k sold for a preseason is quite a lot. Even when friendlies were free that would be the usual crowd.

Is 10k of that not Newcastle fans though I'm sure I read that's what they were given.

It's a joke it's not on the season book you're now paying more money for less games I've not bought a ticket for it and I'm not planning on but a couple of new signings and I could be half tempted and hate myself for it :giggle1:

Aye we increased Newcastles allocation after they sold out and we're not paying for a game that used to be free, I get the temptation with wanting to see new players.

No free friendly or European qualifier, which we used to get, is a dent into the actual value of a season ticket. Especially when they don’t hesitate to increase prices.

Preseason games are * anyway. Half the stadium couldn’t be bothered going when they were free.

I dont think the vast majority of people will think in terms of boycott. Most will consider whether they want to spend 40 quid to take their kid to a meaningless game and many will decide not to bother.

If there was a genuine boycott, it would be the last preseason friendly fans are charged for

Don't imagine there is a boycott.
Our fan base is far too fickle on the whole and the mood is generally sedate within.
You'll have the two extremes, the happy clappers who think the club can do no wrong, even if they sold Jota, maeda, McGregor tomorrow, they'll still champion that we have mcCowan as a natural leader and that Forrest can play left wing as well.
Then the other side that feel the club are absolute * and ripping the fans off left right and centre and would rather see us back to COVID days where they don't need to deal with us but still get our money regardless

Naturally, the truth is somewhere in the middle and a lot more murkier/grey than a simple binary choice.

Not til they really * up, does the tide swing in the angry mob direction and the board will do something. But today, there isn't any overwhelming appetite from the fanbase as a whole, so no I don't think it's remotely a boycott.

All said, 30k (even if 10k are for the Geordies) is reasonable for a paid friendly that means the square root of * all.
It's holiday season, it's fair weekend(?) and I think most have eyes on the comp cup for seeing the team (albeit not able to attend). The Newcastle game really isn't hitting the radar for most.

Add to it, it's not a "free" game either, which is a shame they've done away with that, along with the free qualifier - albeit that qualifier was always an early round one and we don't play them these days.

There is a general apathy to the club trying to sell us * every other week now, from 4th shirts to pre-ordering * warm up shirts, it is getting annoying. But that's the case across the board for most clubs. The apathy isn't towards the club, it's the industry. Although each clubs fanbase get the brunt of it, most fans know it's Adidas/Nike that are the ones driving shirt sales.
Club has no real say in it, if Adidas want to produce another line, the club at most will sign off on the design but that's it.

Have they given any explanation why it’s not on the ST? Even a bad reason?

If they boycotted we probably wouldn't have a home friendly for a while

30k sounds decent for a friendly. I think the club should at least be giving a huge discount to season ticket holders.

True, im surprised its that much. I was thinking about 10,000.

A lot of people never even used to go to the friendly anyway so it is probably the same people, just this time they've bought tickets instead of season ticket holders letting them use their tickets.

That’s what used to get you to go to pre season games. If you were excited about the new players. New guys may well turn out great signings but they don’t get your bawsack (or female equivalent) twitching.

I'm going purely because I'm no longer a ST holder and it's hard to get games where me and my family can sit together. I've got family members that are Newcastle fans that basically never get to games either, so we're just all going to and sit together.

I understand being * off as a ST holder but as a non-ST holder, it's actually quite handy to have at least a few games where basically anyone can buy a ticket. Making them discounted for ST holders would be a good compromise I feel, seems cheeky not to do at least that.

Season book holders weren't even guaranteed their season book seat I'm sure been a bit of a farce from the start tbh

That makes sense for me. If they think only 40k are going to show then you don't want that 40k are spread over every stand. No point in opening a stand you don't need to.
