I’ve seen this said many times and I think it’s a genuine worry for people to have with the way the board run us, certainly from a footballing perspective. They still seem very controlling when it comes to footballing operations, when they really shouldn’t.

It just can’t be the case, though. Even if we allowed Rodgers to go out and spend £30m, does it really make any difference to the next manager coming in? I’d surmise the likes of Tisdale and the new scouts will still be the same, you’d imagine we will still play a similar style of football, albeit there might be some tweaks to the formation. So, the way the club plays football will probably no change all that much.

The days of the likes of Lennon or Brown, which will probably be the next sort of ‘Lennon style link’, getting the job over others managers are a thing of the past, even for this board. I think the previously being linked to the club tic sheet has disappeared for good, certainly from a management perspective.

Aye, i don't think this board will just be playing it safe with the signings just because Rodgers isn't here next season, the Inamura deal won't be a Rodgers signing but not every signing needs to be, Hart and Abada definitely weren't Ange signings in the first season and they worked well.

I definitely think we're away from the "jobs for the boys" mantra, but in saying that, I wouldn't be shocked if we go for Chris Davies at Birmingham if they don't go up this season. Plays some good football.

All hyperbole either way, Rodgers could commit further to us or maybe 3 years was enough, all that matters is he sees off another hun manager if he does go.

I don’t know how good or bad the players they are signing are but they are clearly trying to get the players their Head Coach and recruitment team want. They are working to get the players they want to try and implement his plan. As I say not saying they are good or bad players but they are who the man picking their team seems to want and they are going about it fairly quickly.

I can’t say with confidence that our recruitment is working quite as seamlessly.

Celtics go to man at the Sun

I think by the time the transfer window finishes, you could easily look at Celtic letting 12 or 13 players go. I mean, we've already spoken about Kuhn and there's Greg Taylor. Schlupp's gone. Scott Bain's gone to Falkirk.

That was a sensible one. Again, I think he wants to go and play football. He'd done his bit. Celtic bring Ross Doohan, perfect replacement for him.

Gustaf Lagerbielke. And then you look at others that there is interest in. You know, there's been talk of Yang. I'm not sure if I was Celtic I would let Yang go just yet

Look, I think he is a player who has struggled for consistency. I think it can sometimes be hard for him when he's only coming on for maybe 20 minutes. But I think he's shown flashes last season that maybe there is a player in there, you know, and he's a South Korean international.

I know Legia Warsaw have been linked with him. Talking to a colleague in Poland, he would be very surprised if Legia had the money, say three, four million, to go and make that a permanent deal. So I'm not sure about that one.

And then there are others who have interest and younger players too.

I think Rodgers will stay, provided the club back him. He’s slowly but surely managed to turn the fanbase back round to him and he’s probably more powerful than any manager has ever been when it comes to having the backing of Desmond. What more does he need to do down south? He’s never getting one of the bigger jobs. He’s done the whole midtable team to European team at Leicester and it all fell apart during and after COVID. I can’t see him wanting to do all that again.

Would he want to abroad? I think that’s far more likely. Would he get a club that he wants, though. He’s never getting any of the big jobs so it would need to be a bigger club who have underperformed for years and there’s barely any money in that, certainly from a European perspective. Maybe Saudi if he wants even more money or Turkey? * knows.

I do think the bulk of the money we get from Kuhn will be re-invested in the team over the coming month. It will come down to how well its spent.

We will spend similar money to what we did last summer.

A lot of hyperbole on here from some because the Huns have brought in a few. I like what we did with Nygren, a very smart signing who can play in different positions. Jota will likely not be ready until the new year so Nygren could fill in on the right. Maeda and Jota as the first choice wing options.

We need a top centre half and a number 10 type midfielder. A first choice striker. So its quality not quantity whilst also taking a few punts like this Japanese guy. Be patient.

Agree with everything but this part, I unfortunately think there's still a large part of the fanbase that doesn't take to him, and if winning 4 trophies in 2 seasons with a good European run doesn't change that, I don't know what will.

Aye, always get the feeling some are just waiting for the opportunity to be raging at him. I didn't like it when he let but I got over it because that's football and I'm not a wean.

Can't wait for the season to get underway again. Hoping the board are backing him again, but there's plenty of time so not worried and pretty happy with signings so far.

They won’t back him, giving him a load of £2 million players that are as likely to be * as they are to be excellent is nowhere near what Rodgers would like. Yes by all means sign these players with potential but it’s not unreasonable to expect 3 or 4 proven quality players in the £5 - £12 million range. Where are they? Do you have faith the board will sign them before the transfer window closes?

Who knows but my guess will be that he will go.

Unless he is backed massively, I think he has hit our ceiling in Champions League last season. A mid league finish, a playoff spot and pushing Bayern Munich right to the end is probably as good as it gets. The coefficient is going to get much harder and Id be surprised if he sticks around to play in the Europa or Conference leagues.

He will get some competition from a new look rangers this season but otherwise he has completed Scottish football. If his family is settled and he loves life in Scotland that may make a difference but from a competition perspective he is walking away with a ton of trophies that he can only win again and again.

I think it will come down to spending and being backed. Hes been pretty explicit about not getting what he wants in previous windows. Hes not sticking around if we get another one where he isnt happy at the end of it

Didn't let too much away there. Would be interested to know how many he is envisaging.

Nygren is the only one I feel immediately optimistic about.

Osmand is a decent punt, he could potentially be great. But he doesn't walk into our starting eleven and improve us straight away. He's a third choice striker. I'd take him as a replacement for Idah but that looks unlikely, unfortunately.

    The rest, totally meh.

We were a few decent players away from progressing even further in Europe last season. We need immediate, obvious upgrades at CB, CM, RW and ST.

Our squad is stacked with players who aren't good enough:

    - Scales
    - Trusty
    - Lagerbielke
    - Welsh
    - Yang
    - Bernardo
    - Idah
    - Palma
    - Kenny
    - Kwon
    - Tilio

That's a ridiculous amount of trash/mediocrity (many of them first teamers). They can all go for me and I wouldn't blink an eye. I'm no real fan of Engels either but willing to give him another season.

Jota is out long term. Kuhn is out the door. Forrest is another year older and slower. We have no backup LB. Our ST options are, on paper, some of the worst we've had in years. No recognised CDM. We've a weak, lightweight midfield. It's not a good squad at all.

The players we've been linked with are just uninspiring. Same old, same old. Random punts and cheap projects that may or may not come good. Look at the list above - the amount of deadwood in the squad is insane and has been for years. We need to trim and sharpen the squad, not add more.

Not panicking yet because there's plenty of time but I've seen this story before. We need to show some actual ambition for once.

We shouldn't forget how much money we have in the bank and how much we're being shafted as fans with all of the hoarding that goes on and the stale, stagnant approach of the higher ups.

I think my only slight disappointment so far is the distinct lack of LB and midfielder links.

Only been linked to one LB and it was a tenous link at best, same with midfield, only been linked to that Morton at Liverpool and that's another flimsy link, I think we could do with two (With Holm and Bernardo leaving). Could really do with some pace and Physicality in midfield.

Early days of course so not a real worry, we'll definitely get another LB in, but hopefully see some links shortly.

Pretty sure we will get a CDM this time.
Between Diawara, Morton, and Charles for me now.
Can't make my mind up who I want now.

It's like trying to pick a chocolate bar. :giggle1:
