Feels like a summer of cheap punts, so far.

Uch, don't worry, they'll assure us that they're "working behind the scenes" again but, as we all know, we'll be making panic last minute buys right up to the very last second of the transfer window

I'd hope to hear a bit more on some outgoings this week, make some space in the squad for the signings we need to come in. I know a lot of the 'bigger' signings have all the usual stuff about other clubs interest and hanging off until later in the window to size up their options, etc.

I just worry that maybe one or two of our main targets might be waiting to see if we're gonna be in the CL or the Europa before deciding on a move to us. We need to be doing whatever we can to ensure we reach the group stages of CL but getting in the players we want who might be dithering.

I'm generally pretty optimistic (without much reason) about our transfer business but just got a wee niggle in my head this year. Hopefully nothing to it tho.

Yet again though we will send a * ridiculous amount of corporation tax to HMRC when that value should have been spent on a player to reduce the profit. * clowns

    "everybody's working really hard"

"We dont sign new players just for the sake of it"

    "We're after quality, not quantity"

"We're always on the look out for players that will improve us"

"The summer is always a tough window "

"Players have many options these days so we need to look for ones with the right mentality "

"Alot of clubs are unwilling to sell until they knew their own position in (insert bullshit)"

"The market is very (insert bullshit) right now so everyone is very cautious in this window."

The league kicks off in what? 4 weeks? I cant actually see us signing anyone of actual proven quality out with the Swede we picked up for pennies.

Looks like Rodgers was given his splurge last year, and Lawell and Desmond dont fancy another.

Not even July and people are already panicking.

Aye, Inamura is a bit underwhelming on paper, and Doohan is purely for the quota, but the other signings range from good to great. Both Tierney and Nygren are excellent signings, Osmund seems a really promising player and I think Yamada will do good with us, certainly has the attributes.

Hopefully we start seeing some new links over the next week.

Club World Cup will no doubt be wheeled out at some stage!

Slightly underwhelmed so far but hopefully we kick on and spend the money on quality in the positions we require it.

Need to be the priority. I'd have hoped for a natural LB to compete with Tierney too but I've a feeling Inamura will be shoehorned in to try and be a cheap bit of competition.

You can normally deduce the expected transfer activity based on the general rule of thumb that we spend once we have banked.

Its rare we make big investments up front and its usually based on who we sell. No big player sales so far so no surprise we havent made any significant spends. We have spent the money we got from Frimpong basically.

I guess they are expecting to move Kuhn for a decent fee and if so, then most of that will prob go into signings.

The question is if we dont make any major sale are the board prepared to dip into the reserves to secure a statement signing.

People moaning because we haven't spend a load of money but the reality is we've got two really high end signings for tuppence. I'm also interested in Osmond, his record for PL2 was too good to come here and play in the Colts team.

The club will have a better idea on budget when they know which players will leave or have a better idea who will. People will say you have to be pro-active and not reactive but you can't just sign a load of players hoping ones will leave, because people might not leave and you're left with an unsustainable wage bill.

Our business has been pretty astute so far for me..

It doesn't have to be major signings everytime but
Doohan for Bain at this stage is a club trained and homegrown upgrade with Doohan a recent international coming in to his best years, for free
Osmand is a low fee, cross border pick-up with massive potential
Tierney is a club trained, homegrown, quality player in a priority position, just hope we manage his injuries
Nygren is a young but experienced international of quality who adds a lot to us for another pittance due to his contract situation
Yamada from his videos looks a quick, tough wee handful who will get goals for us at a small price
Inamura is the one who's a bit meh for some as a centre half but clearly has a lot of good attributes that we've seen in him and for another small fee

6 players we've identified and got in practically already that have an abundance of freshness, pace, good in possession, quite a bit of versatility and a mix of real experience..

As it stands right now, we're stronger than we finished last season for me with Tierney, Nygren particularly coming straight in and the depth of Yamada and Osmand up top..

We haven't lost any key or first team players for that matter and although we know we need to do a fair bit of business still, I'm 100% sure we will..

Nygren, KT, Osmond are a good start to the window … honestly unsure about the 2 Japanese lads linked if I’m being honest.

Hoping we have a few signings that are 7m+ that will come straight in to the first team and make an impact.

We have 2 x £7m plus signings who we all agree we overpaid for and a close to £7m CB who can't keep Liam scales out the team.

A good start to the window but think once the 2 Japenese boys are in I don’t imagine there will be much movement till later in the window or if there’s any major outgoings.

    3 prospect signings
    2 starters
1 3rd choice keeper for Uefa squad.
Any signings after these needs to be starters.

I actually think Yamada looks a good fit for us and has attributes we miss. So wouldn't be disappointed if he came in for like £1m. Both him and Osmand have attributes of kyogo in that they play off the shoulder and can apparently sniff out chances. May be that we are putting hope in both of them to chip in. Osmand at 19 has plenty of time to learn and develop.

I agree that things might quieten down now as we focus on 'bigger' targets.

Im not moaning (yet), and Tierney is an obvious exception, but its a bit concerning that we seem to be mostly targeting cheap/promising/project players to replace the previous cohort of similar players going out the door. The guys we are being linked to and now signing on paper look no better than the list of players we have in the squad not playing.

Its hard to form too much of an opinion so early on and before we get a flavour of who, if anyone, is leaving. But my concern is that we are going down the cheap spend and high voume route, we we havent even shipped out the last batch of 'cheap spend and high volume' signings weve made. And with 70m in the bank we should be looking to strengthen regardless of who is leaving

We canny be afraid of signing players in that price bracket just because we’ve made an * of it before … that’s just backwards logic.

Assuming this football guru guy heading the recruitment this summer knows his stuff there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be buying guys who have a bit of pedigree about them. We can and should be looking to upscale and act like a champions league club.

I don't agree we overpaid for Engels to be honest.

Think we will easily make a profit if we sold him tomorrow.
