Got two match play fixtures this weekend. One in 38mph gusts forecast on friday and the other in 31 degree heat Sunday evening.

There's my excuses lined up already

Definitely need an alternative tee shot club when driver isn't the play. Mine is my 5 wood or 7 wood depending on the situation. Tighter dispersion on those clubs makes the hole a lot more playable even from further back.

Can work the other way on long 4s or par 5s though, as murph said if you're not committed it can still go to *.

I had to play on Monday night in 40mph gusts don't mind a strong breeze but that was unplayable at times. i walked off on Friday after 15holes just to hot then the gourock open on sat same conditions but very humid, pishing rain on Sunday and high winds Monday, golf in Scotland eh

Suppose its the same for my opponents as well but as the higher handicapper in the match and only played consistently for 2 years I imagine they'll fair better in extreme conditions than myself.

I'm also a wuss when it comes to heat :giggle1:

Yeah that's true sometimes it can make you play a bit more conservative, more lay ups that going for the big hits into the green, I just can't keep it low so wind affects everything I hit, my wee baby fade turn into a big slice more often than not

I’d say the opposite mate. The strong wind can be a leveller at times. A very good player can be made to look very average in strong winds. You’ll be fine.

Played off the medal tees tonight, played steady as * and needed a par on 18 (tough hole tbf) for a 79. Would’ve been the first time I’ve broken 80. Slice my drive horribly into * down the right and 3 off the tee. If anything could sum me up playing golf it would be that.

Played a lot better tonight than I have been and had a lot of birdie putts from with sort of 20ft but absolutely nothing dropped. Frustrating but getting there I think.

Lost my match on the 18th. Lad was just too consistent for me in the end he birdied the last and I had a stinker. Glad I made him work for it but he deserved it.

Played in the semi final of my club championship match play last night. Was never down in the game until 17 where I missed a short putt. Birdied the 18th to take it into extra holes and then birdied the 1st extra hole to win. Final over 36 holes tomorrow.

Final tomorrow mate. I played my mate last night. He didn’t have a great stroke play so ended up on same side of the draw. It was a bit of a scrap last night to be honest.

Play well in your open mate. Weather looking ok for it as well.

Well I had a nightmare in my open yesterday, started off brilliant even par to the 5th thinned a shot in to the trees and took me 3 to get out took a 7, then 3 off the tee and 4 putts on the 6th for 9 and another 7 on our si1 7th which I was actually happy about lol, just couldn't get going after that ended up with a net 79 and a bad mood always next year
