Trusty was billed as being both good on the ball and quick. Whilst that is certainly where his strengths seem to lie, I don’t think he is the best aerially or physically. So im not sure what the advantage would be bringing in a player from a lesser standard of league.
Lagerbielke was also said to be good on the ball, but lacked the doggedness we required.

Agree but given the £70m plus in the bank, our annual hard on for selling our best players and potentially another £50m plus if we qualify for champions league, I think we should be looking for someone better than a 23 year old in a relegation dogfight in a league that is far, far less physical than ours

    Kwon mk 2.

Will say the same thing as I did then. I'll be extremely surprised if he ever plays a competitive minute of football for us

I just worry what him vs a run of the mill mutant unit striker from our league would look like … from memory, St Mirren for example looked like they had a feckin basketball team out there last season.

On the face of it I would rather just let Dane Murray take his place in the squad and target a starting CB.

Hope he turns out to be class.

From Crows video there I can see why we are looking at him.

Cheap punt. Great eye for a pass, excellent in possession (but he won't get that time on the ball in Scotland) and LEVELS above Scales in bringing the ball out from the back, seems very decisive, unlike Scales who wanders out with the ball, runs into traffic and makes an * of it.

But unfortunately thats my fear. Brendan signed that donut Jack Hendry for the simple reason he could apparently "play out from the back", but * all else.

As a project signing, no problem. Dump him out on loan asap to a relegation threatened side to learn the onions, get him on a regimen to beef up, and we'll see where hes at in a season.

But if those at the club are thinking he's coming in to contribute straight away I'd be very very wary about the direction this window is taking.

It looks to me as if this guy will be replacing Nawrocki ie becoming our new 4th choice CB. Scales is still Brendan's man and Trusty will cover for him. Anyone hoping for a big-money signing to play next to CCV is gonna be disappointed I fear. As for this lad, the warning signs are all there. Not a big or physically strong player, never got near his national team and his talents appear to be with the ball at his feet rather than any defensive abilities which, for me, should always be the priority. We should be bringing in 4 or so, 1st eleven ready, guaranteed starters to improve this team not more filler like this lad and some Fulham youth team boy.

Won't he be LB cover rather than LCB?

all the japanese players we have signed have shown great athleticism and technique .strength and aggression would be the major concern especially for a cb

Hopefully not. He's played majority of his career at CB.

It would be classic Celtic for us to go for a guy at a bottom of the league Japanese side who's playing his first season of pro football, most of it at CB, as back up to our rather injury prone international LB:giggle1:
Of all the LB's in the entire world.

Personally I think this has debut at Livi, ragdolled about and never seen again written all over it, but hope I'm wrong.

I also find it hard to believe this is a Rodgers led signing. Will be interesting to see how the remainder of the window pans out.

Hatate was 23 when he came to us, I know he was part of a successful team but had similar career path to this lad.

Its not really his age that's concerning me mate or his experience.

It's just the profile of player he is. Hatate looked class and was one of the top players in the league..maeda too, and Kyogo. Its no surprise those 3 have been the most successful. Even Iwata has gone on to do well in England tbh.

This just looks like a punt akin to Kwon in South Korea. I'm happy to be proved wrong but I'm seeing a lot of similar comments from folk trying to defend it as I did with him, Yang etc. Will just wait and see.

As I said yesterday with the amount of money we have sitting and with our aspirations, if this is immediate cover/competition for LB or CB it's not that encouraging.

As a fourth choice I suppose it's fine. The disappointing thing is I think we all hoped the centre half we brought in would be a first choice, and it would be Scales and Trusty moving down to third and fourth choice.

Where is that being said, though? I thought it was just some of us hoping that's the case tbh.

Someone said yesterday if he was to be 4th choice that'd mean we would have 3 left centre halfs. So perhaps one of Scales or Trusty to go. If this guy isn't gonna be loaned.

That would make sense tbf. Somehow I just don't see us buying two centre halves this window though, would feel very un-Celtic to be that on it :giggle1:
