More money for a player sale that hasn't kicked a ball for us in years than the huns will get for all sales combined this summer.

It’s a lower sum than I thought we would have got as it had been reported his release clause was €40m.

At the same time if we get £5.5m for that to go with the about £4.5m for Bernabei in January that’s £10m for a player sold years ago and a guy so far out of our first team picture he was loaned out when we had no fully fit first team left back.

If you can shift guys like Tilio, Kwon, Palma, Lagerbielke and Nawrocki and get some sort of fee then that’s all money that can be put towards new signings for guys who don’t get a look in or very rarely feature outwith a crisis.

Celtic are set to be in the money this weekend when Jeremie Frimpong seals his move to Liverpool – and it could effectively instantly pay for a £6million signing Brendan Rodgers is in the market for.

Frimpong has been a glowing champion for Celtic's recruitment strategy since his move to Bayer Leverkusen. They sold him for £11m just 18 months after paying a nominal compensation fee to Manchester City for his services, and are set to bank a further £6.5m from a sell-on clause when he seals a £30m move to Anfield this weekend.

That will take Celtic's overall profit on the right-back to £17m and, according to the Daily Mail, it will be officially confirmed on Sunday June 1 when the transfer window opens

It's not as if Celtic are short of a few quid but the £6.5m boost will undoubtedly aid Rodgers' cause as he looks to freshen up his squad this summer.

Clearly the person writing for the record that claimed we are only getting £3m can’t count. They state we got £11m for the player and combining the £3m we will have got £17m for him. Also if he had been sold for £35m we would have been due £6.5m but because he is going for £30m we are only getting £3m?

I wonder how they are working out how much we get from Barca for Valle being sold to Como? Is that not how that works?

The maths have been shaky every stage of this deal. 30% of £30m, that would be £9m would it not? 30% of profit on the fee would be about £6.5m/£7m though.

It’s all guesswork really. Passing on the 30% that we had to pay City that we had in place for him with them, to Bayer, that’s * very good business.

He seems a real good kid, wish him well. It's always good if our ex players perform well, should help with future sales

Thats nuts how young he still is.

2-3 seasons there and could still go for three times that fee to an even bigger club.
