Hope he lets a few of those players know his feelings in that dressing room.

In terms of the mental aspect of the game only, he too often simply isn’t good enough. He must be one of the most overrated captains we’ve had in that regard.

Gets a name for setting the standard, and he does, but he also goes to jelly at certain moments and in certain games. It isn’t his fault that too few of the players can step up and fill that void when he’s having a bad day though.

Still, it’s his job to embody what the team is meant to be about. Today, I took one look at our captain approaching to take the first pen in a shootout, and just felt in my gut, ‘he’s missing this’. When that’s the case, we need better.

I just flat out refuse to believe that the complacency we see in games like today solely comes from Rodgers or the want-away guys like Kühn. A good captain sets the standard right enough, and too often he doesn’t get out of 2nd gear.

Because CCV somehow needs backup to deal with Graeme Shinnie? :56::56:

He’d have been better showing them in the match. Went to blancmange.

Him and Taylor were the only ones showing any urgency to drive us forward after Forrest went off. Not his greatest game as a player; but I thought he was a proper captain today.

Was one of the only players that turned up today. The midfield was non existent with the others being absolutely terrible. It’s an indication when your 2nd best midfield player on the day was Taylor.

Besides giving the effort required (which some didn’t tbf to him), I didn’t see that much of that leadership today. He lets his head drop less than others, but still far too often for a captain.

I agree. Engels was underwhelming and Bernardo and McCowan were awful. Taylor was a better midfielder today, certainly than the latter two. That's shocking.

I thought he was poor today. He tried to lift it but his legs are going fast and he was unable. He’s part of the reason we’re over cautious in possession.

It’s very clear he should be phased out the team throughout next season. It looks like we’re going to do with him what we did with Brown, which will end in more trophies lost.

Naw a mean the fact aw their players are jumping in and getting into his face. McGregor just sat back like he always does.

End of the day he's still our captain and I don't want anyone else to be

To be honest, I don't think McGregor would be much use in the way of backup and frankly, I'd genuinely back CCV over any 3 of their players. Best he stays out of it and doesn't get in CCV's way. :giggle1:

Well there is that too it a suppose as well probably just miss the days of Broony being in there scrapping with everycunt and taking these types of games by the scruff of the neck. Always knew when a game got dirty he'd step up.

Only thing that's really missing from McGregor I think

Not the problem today. A poor penalty, though.

One of only a few players who turned up today. Had a feeling he was going miss, but I'm never confident in any player scoring a penalty

Didn't catch the full game but from what I seen he played well. Poor penalty and it set the tone for the rest of the shootout. Will be more gutted than any of us.

    Keep at it legend.

Yeah, teams bully us these days. McGregor's just too serious a person to excel at the dark arts. My favourite Broony moment was his face that time when he provoked Morelos into losing it and Morelos got himself sent off.

But McGregor's a good captain in a totally different way.
