Rodgers hailed Idah, who had been the subject of criticism last month, for his on-field response. The 24-year-old Corkman has bagged six goals in six games since then. His manager is confident that Idah will add even more goals next season.

"He's a young player that’s got so much potential. He’s scored 20 goals in 22 starts. I think he’s had 51 appearances, so he's contributed a lot for us in every competition.

"Settling in can be a challenge at a club like Celtic, but he’s adapted really well.

"I believe that next season, he'll go on and be even stronger and even better. Obviously, he'll be with us now for pre-season, which he wasn't last season because he was still at Norwich.

"He's a good guy, he gives his all, and he'll kick on again next year, I'm sure.

"What we've tried to highlight with Adam is just that pressing aspect, because he can score goals and all different types of goals.

"How we play is very much a pressure game, an intense game, and that's something he's working very hard at physically.

"But when he's full of confidence, running hard, and working well, then all these things come naturally for him. And naturally, he's got lots of talent

Clever way that from Rodgers. Made the statement that’s unreal sounding, mentioned the rebuttal he’d get to it right after it. He’s no daft.

But the pre-season point is a great one. BR’s teams for us and those who impress are built in pre-season. This summer Kuhn, previous year O’Riley… his first stint Forrest, Calmac…

Rebuttal to my point I think Eboue Kouassi one of them as well

30 goals has to be his target for next year. Easily achievable if he gets the starting minutes.

There's no doubt on paper his record is good considering his minutes from the kick off. Like a broken record here but if he can knit it all together, he's the ideal striker for us.

I still have my doubts though.

I think he should have stayed on, but it's really infuriating how often he drifts out wide.

Need him in the middle and he's hardly there.

What did he do to justify staying on though? Maeda scores with that last kick and everycunt is saying the right move was taking Idah off and putting him through the middle.

    Idah done nothing all game

    Let’s be honest, he’s *.

Has a few redeeming features, but he’s not at our level.

Looks every bit the Norwich back up striker.

Honestly don't know how people can defend him.

Can't even remember who it was on here I was debating with a while ago now. Would be good to see his thoughts now
