Think it boils down to me sering he had actually confirmed at the time, if he wanted to move for pure money the Celtic was the clear choice, but he decided to stick it out another season with Montpellier after getting them promotion into Ligue 1 I think.

Aye, we and an epl team (maybe middlesbrough?) had bigger money offers on the table for him, but the manager down there convinced him another season in france would be better for his career than playing in scotland.

Toney is the most recent one, had toured around up here (and spoke to gerrard at the huns too apparently) but turned us down because we had Edouard and Griffiths playing well at the time so he wasn't 100% walking straight in as first choice. Shat it.

It was actually Tours he was playing at when we tried to sign him. He picked Montpellier over us for whatever reason. Turned out a good decision for him tbf. Won Ligue 1 with Montpellier and had a great career since.

 

Ronaldinho isn't even up for debate. The St Mirren manager at the time is on record speaking about how close it was.
