Aye I'm very confident with him in goal..

Looks assured in most things. Only thing is he could've been a bit sharper at their goal, and was another goal recently I've thought the same..

    He's a good one..

I have no worries at all when he's on the ball, always very confident he'll easily pick out a pass.

I think he'll 100% be first choice before the end of next season.

Think that was always the plan though when he was brought in; to be the understudy for a season (as Kasper was initially only signed for 1 season) with long term intention of VS being the No. 1 in his own right.

And now that we have had a sighter over the past 5-6 weeks or so, have that confidence for when the time comes that there isn't a mad dash looking about for a new number 1, while opens the door for a academy graduate to be VS understudy potentially.

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has given his verdict on Viljami Sinisalo, following the Finland international’s recent extended run between the sticks in his own absence.

The 38-year-old suffered a shoulder injury during Denmark’s Nations League second leg versus Portugal in March, with Schmeichel finishing the game despite the fracture.

Due to this, 23-year-old Sinisalo stepped up to the plate, impressing during a six-game run in the starting line-up. Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, Schmeichel praised the efforts of his deputy, though he was not surprised at his positive contributions. “Yes (I have been impressed),” he said.

“I have trained with Vil all season, and he has been top-drawer. You do not come to a club like Celtic unless you are a good goalkeeper, so yes, he has done very, very well.

“I think goalkeeping is a very different kind of mentality, where we are part of a team, but we wear a different kit. We are separated, but we are still together. In terms of the group, it's so important to have quality around you all the time because it just elevates the level of the session.

“In turn, that elevates everyone around you

Celtic keeper Viljami Sinisalo has insisted he plans to dislodge Kasper Schmeichel and be the Hoops No.1.

The former Aston Villa shotstopper took over from the veteran Danish keeper when he was out injured and impressed during his seven-game stint, which included a derby clash at Ibrox.

He's also back up with Finland to Lukas Hradecky and is currently on international duty, but he's made it clear his ambition is to become Schmeichel's successor.

Sinisalo said: "Kasper has one year left on his contract. I have four. We are proceeding according to plan. I am 15 years younger than him.

"Hopefully next season I'll get more minutes. I'll just try to play as well as I can when the opportunity arises. We'll see what happens.

"Kasper is an excellent guy. He supported our team well and gave us tips when he was out with an injury. We are a good team together.

"Every footballer wants to play. However, I knew that in front of me was an experienced top goalkeeper who is, so to speak, coming to the end of his career.

"And that I am the young goalkeeper who is more of a project behind him.

"There must be some patience from me.

"But the plan is to be the first-choice goalkeeper at Celtic one day and hopefully that will open doors for me here on the national team as well.

"Sinisalo impressed during his spell as the veteran Dane's replacement, which included an Old Firm game at Ibrox.

He said: "Even though the end of the season was disappointing because we didn't win all three trophies, I enjoyed it.

"I played seven of the last ten games. I'm quite happy with what I achieved towards the end of the season.

"I got to experience what it's like to be a Celtic goalkeeper and I got to play in the match that won the league.

"I lifted that trophy with a slightly better conscience because I had played a part in winning it myself.

"And it was cool to experience the game at Ibrox. There were a few nerves before the game - 95 per cent of the crowd were home fans, every one of whom hates you.

"I will definitely remember the experience forever."

His attitude is top. Can see him becoming a bit of a cult hero here.

Was the plan all along and it's going nicely. Good head on this lad and he sees that this will benefit come end of the season and I see him playing more often. Shown already he is an able deputy and knows he just needs to bide his time and the no.1 jersey will be his

He definitely showed well in the games he played in the latter part of the season and for sure showed he has the potential to be our long term number 1 after Schmeichel retires. I especially like his comfort level with the ball at his feet and his distribution with his feet all so important for the way we play.

Should be given a run as our number 1 now.

I don't see him getting a regular run immediately.

Schmeichel made a mistake but other than that has been largely excellent for us. I can't see Rodgers doing anything drastic in that position.

I think there’s been a noticeable drop off in Schmeichel’s distribution this year. Could quite easily have cost us a couple of goals from playing mental passes.

Wouldn’t be against him starting the season, but I have a feeling we’ll see a quick decline in him this next season. He’s already a bit on the stocky side, to be generous.

He definitely needs to be getting a lot more games next year. If it wasn't for Schmeichel's injury I suspect he'd be going out on loan.

Very easy to say in hindsight but he should have started the final, I don't think Schmeichel was fully match fit.

He probably will naturally decline but I think there's been an overreaction from the support tbh.

He still is deserved of keeping his position for now. But I agree Sinisalo should see more game time.
