Celtic In Europe 2025/26

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Luis1967, Mar 15, 2025.

  1. In order to be seeded we need 4 of these teams to not be in the playoff round with us. Olympiacos are already gone (through) so we just need 3 more.

This was a game or 2 ago so tables might have changed

  4. No just straight into the play off. I don’t think anyone actually comes in Q3. So you either end up with 3 qualifiers or just the playoff.

Countries ranked 11-14 Champions come in at the playoffs the others below start at either Q1 or Q2 depending on country coefficient.

Well, we'd need them not to be in the Champions round, if any of them qualify 2nd they go into the league phase this doesnt affect us. So RB Salzburg 5 points behind with 6 games to go, good chance they will be in the league phase, same with Dynamo. Shakthar 10 points behind now with 5 games.

  6. See the team we actually want to win EL is Bodo Glimt as they are seeded above us in Champions path to CL qualification and would move straight in and have one higher ranked club less in the champions path CL qualifying.

  7. Dinamo Zagreb just lost 1 nil today which takes them 4 points off 2 sides above them who've both played a game less..

That's them probably out of it..

  8. A mixed bag this weekend on this front.

We have one of our three teams likely missing winning their title in Shakhtar, who are now 10 points back with only 4 games to win so unlikely to win.

Salzburg are now 4th in Austria, they are still only 4 points back but there are three teams between them and the top. They have 4 games to go and have to go to Sturm Graz still too. If Sturm Graz don’t lose that game it is hard to see Salzburg win the title. Hopefully that would be our second team to miss out.

We then have four shouts at getting the last team:

Bodo Glimt win the Europa league they go straight in to CL groups. A bit of a long shot but I could see them take spurs over two legs and in a one off game who knows.

Hungary, Ferencvaros are now top and face their main rivals next Saturday. They are 3 points clear with 4 games to go so if they win that they will win their league.

Denmark it is tight at the top with 4 games to go, Copenhagen are top by a point but still have to host Midtjylland who are the team chasing them. This could still go either way.

Croatia, doesn’t look hopeful now Dinamo Zagreb are now just a point behind Rjeka and Hadjuk Split who have both totally bottled it. They had a big lead, and have lost multiple games in a row. If Dinamo beat Hadjuk Split away next week I think they will complete the comeback.

So despite having 4 shots at one team who are seeded above us missing out we are pretty 50:50 whether we are seeded or not for the playoff.

  9. Any updates on this?

  10. Not a great weekend. Salzburg are still 4 points back of Sturm Graz and go there next week, that will likely determine where the Austrian title goes.

Zagreb beat Hadjuk Split so are now above them but Rijeka won today so remain top of the league by a point. Although their current form is dodgy and I expect Dinamo Zagreb to win the Croatian league now.

Shakhtar can no longer win the Ukrainian league so one team is confirmed as not qualifying.

Copenhagen and Midtjylland both won today, so Copenhagen are top by a point and they play each other next weekend. So big game in Denmark.

Ferencvaros got a draw with Puskas Academy which is not what we wanted. They do have a couple of tricky fixtures left but with 3 games to go they are top by 3 points.

So still a chance of being seeded but I think it’s slipping like towards 60:40 that we won’t.

  13. Salzburg just lost to sturm graz 4-2 leaving them seven points behind them

  14. Who can we potentially face?

  15. Bodo
    Zagreb
    Copenhagen
    Ferencvarous
    Red Star Belgrade

Ideally we dont want Zagreb to win the league but Rejkia had a 10 point lead 4 games ago and lost 3 in a row and we would then be seeded!

No chance you get past any of them imo

Dinamo Zagreb and Copenhagen haven't won their leagues yet, and Ferencvaros and Red Star need to get to the next round of qualifying.

If we're not seeded I don't think it's an excuse, we should be beating those teams.

  18. Of the 5 possible Ferencvarous are the only ones I would be confident of beating

  19. First team starters and quickly is what we will need. Faith in the board to deliver that is as ever not inspiring.

  20. If we aren't good enough to beat these teams, though, we're better off in the EL. For our own good.
