He's nothing like our other midfielders. We barely have a box to box type..

Maybe if it came from stoobhoy on the HB I'd tend to believe

    :40:

Also Burnley have just went back up to the EPL

Of course we do. I'd argue all our central midfielders fit into the box to box archetype. Even our CDM is practically a box to box transformed into a CDM.

Really don't see Bernardo moving on.

Can see Hatate moving on so we are likely looking at bringing in 2 players. For me both need to be strong and athletic and ideally be over 6 foot. One should be a DM but won't hold my breathe.

This guy looks like an upgraded Mccowan but don't see him being good enough to take us up a level

I mean small, tidy on the ball types.

I want more physical and athletic midfielders. Fed up watching us being bullied in midfield

I think we badly lack that extra bit of experience in midfield.

By all accounts Brownhill has had a fantastic season for a Burnley side that finished on 100 points, he scored 18 goals and got 6 assists in a league that's better than the SPFL. He'd be a very good signing, I'd actually be shocked if Burnley were to let him go, but I wouldn't doubt him fancying coming to us.

I'd argue speed/mobility are more important in the modern game than strength/size.

That said, Brownhill isn't small. Per transfermarkt, he's 1,79. Wikipedia lists him at 1,80. Seems like average size.

    * hope not.

Can't be going another midfielder who turns up once a month

He's a good player, one we were keeping tabs on for a while. He would certainly improve our midfield, and he is nothing like the other ones we've got. At 5'11, good height too for the midfield.

A hexagonal type of midfielder who is good in all directions.

Yep. Joint 2nd top scorer in Championship, has plenty of experience in the PL and is captain of his side.

Burnley want to keep but supposedly he’s keen to try something new.

Wouldn't surprise me if he wants to move on. He'll be looking at Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester and thinking is that really what he wants?

Brownhill would be a great signing for us.

Why would Brownhill want to move on after a season that good, and possibly his last stab at the Prem? European football maybe?

I was thinking a crack at Champions League perhaps? I agree it seems unlikely, but he has played over a 100 EPL games, perhaps given we wouldn’t be paying a transfer fee we have offered him a big signing on fee to compensate? As otherwise I don’t see how we would financially compete otherwise with other suitors.

Apparently Brownhill is on £45k per week, can't see us matching that and seems unlikely that anyone to take a pay decrease if around £15k per week. Would be a good signing but seems unlikely to me

    Free agent.

Big sign on and we'd defo pay upto 40k or so. Times have changed a bit.

We will have about 4 or 5 players on that currently imo. And the Huns are paying Butland that.

Brownhill would be sensational here. Good at everything , proper all rounder in the middle of the park , and a genuine CM goalscorer. Domestically he would be frightening . A no brainer if it could be done ....couple of mill up front signing on fee , then made him equal with top earners.

Looking at his stats I'll be surprised if he ends up here tbh.

Thought Brownhill would have wanted to stay with Burnley with them winning promotion back
