Most bizarre thing ever!! He has called up Maeda and Hatate before and patched Kyogo who was scoring all over but as soon as he moves he gets a call up * :39:

Really surprised at that, thought their manager just flat out didn't like Kyogo, there was no logic to him calling up Maeda and Hatate but not Kyogo when he was here in top form, now he's in another league and barely playing he gets picked, absolute crackpot. :56:

Pretty sure Kyogo was in their last international squad back in November, whilst he was with us obviously.

In a move that was supposed to elevate his career to new heights, Kyogo Furuhashi's £10million January transfer from Celtic to Ligue 1 side Rennes has instead left the Japanese striker warming the bench and facing an uncertain future in French football.

The 30-year-old forward, who was a talismanic figure across a three-and-a-half year spell at Celtic Park, has found himself in footballing purgatory since swapping the adulation of Glasgow's east end for the unfamiliar surroundings of Roazhon Park.

At the heart of Kyogo's struggles lies a fundamental tactical incompatibility with Rennes' current system. Manager Habib Beye, who arrived just days after Kyogo joined the club, has been refreshingly candid about why the Japanese international has struggled to break into the starting XI.

"Kyogo has different abilities from other strikers, he needs to have a focal point, because he's very mobile," Beye revealed.

"He's a combination player, and we're working a lot at the moment on these notions of complementarity attack, so that he feels confident and fully involved," the Rennes boss added, suggesting that integrating Kyogo into his tactical setup remains a work in progress

This tactical puzzle explains why Beye has often opted for 17-year-old Mohamed Meite ahead of the experienced Kyogo, with the manager stating: "The decision to start Mathis ahead of Kyogo is simply based on what I've seen in training. I've given opportunities to players who I believe deserve them based on their performances in training sessions."

At Celtic, Kyogo was the main man. The player who delivered when it mattered most. His goals, 85 in total for Celtic, helped secure multiple trophies under Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou. But in France, he's become something of a forgotten figure, with his specific skill set seemingly at odds with what Rennes require from their centre forward.

He got a mere nine minutes of game time as Rennes were thrashed 4-1 by Paris Saint-Germain last weekend. While, he was left as an unused substitute in three of the four previous fixtures.

It’s * weird. It’s not the league, Hatate got called up to the Asian Cup having been injured for months fs. Maeda is an automatic pick. *, I think Iwata got a call up while here.

The guy done an interview I’m sure must have got lost in translation saying he didn’t select him Ange’s first season I think, calling him selfish and doesn’t work for the team - basically lazy.

Selfish maybe, strikers are. Not enough to be called it, all strikers have a level of selfishness in them.

But hard work? If we didn’t have Maeda, he’d probably be the hardest working attacker we’ve had. He was constantly pressing and closing down, making runs whether he knew the pass would come or not, because that drags away a defender. He’s an insane worker. Maeda being what he is, it was unnoticed to an extent. But he’s a freak of nature.

Young Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi has been pushed out of Stade Rennais due to his less-than-convincing performances. SRFC's management has unearthed new talent.

Kyogo Furuhashi isn't going to last long at Stade Rennais, as his time there appears to be a fiasco. Recruited this winter for €12 million from Celtic Glasgow to fill the gap left by Amine Gouiri to Marseille, the Japanese striker is struggling to make a name for himself.

Kyogo Furuhashi has been unable to make a decisive contribution in his appearances. In this context, it would not be surprising to see the Japanese player leave Brittany after only a few months. Habib Beye, SRFC's new tactician , has reportedly decided to strengthen the attack with a higher-caliber player during the next summer transfer window.

Since arriving in Rennes, the Japanese international has played only a few minutes for the Rouge et Noir, with only one start, against RC Strasbourg (1-0) on February 2. Since then, Kyogo Furuhashi has been on the bench. Injuries have also complicated his situation. His profile also doesn't match the expectations of new coach Habib Beye.

"Kyogo has different abilities from other strikers; he needs to have a focal point because he's very mobile. He's a combination player, and we're working a lot on these notions of complementarity at the moment, so that he feels confident and fully involved," Habib Beye explained after the match against RC Lens.

Kyogo Furuhashi will therefore have to leave Stade Rennais at the end of this season to relaunch his career elsewhere. For their part, SRFC management is already looking for other talented players to bring tone and vitality to the Breton club's attack. Two stars are on Stade Rennais' radar.

According to Jeunes Footeux , SRFC scouts are targeting French international Florian Thauvin, who currently plays for Udinese in Italy. With his contract expiring in June, the world champion is considering returning to France and could settle in Rennes.

The same source indicates that Rennes' management is also eyeing the young Croatian striker from Union Saint-Gilloise, Franjo Ivanovic. The latter is in great form and is causing a stir in Belgium. This season, the serial goalscorer has already scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 34 matches across all competitions for his Belgian club. Stade Rennais will have to pay €15 million to secure the services of this prolific striker.

    Manager seems a beard.

The wee guy is top quality, no way should he be on their bench.

Mad that they’re in a relegation battle and that’s been him and Jota this season not able to get a game

It was a weird move at the time. The notion he moved to get in the Japan squad I never subscribed to as he had made squads with us in the past I think it's just a case that the Japan manager doesn't fancy him

It was a weird thing that picked up as a comment the National Team. He was outplaying guys at every level we played at for us that were called up, it was never a case of moving because their manager didn’t rate where we played. Hatate was injured all season getting called up for the Asian Cup last season. And the bits he wasn’t injured he was pish. That didn’t come in to it.

He said top 5 leagues when he moved.

But I think he wasn’t going to have any move accepted from us but them when the chance of Jota came up, he was MLS bound, accidentally announced by Atlanta and everything. Then Jota was rumoured, it was basically a swap for some reason not presented as such. He went, the manager that brought him in got sacked. And it’s been a disaster for him. I imagine he’ll move to Atlanta in summer.
