After several seasons in the French Ligue 2, Malian central midfielder Kalidou Sidibé is now ready to take a new step in his career.

The 26-year-old is attracting interest from several clubs across Europe. Scottish club Celtic Glasgow have reportedly made an initial offer of €2 million to secure the services of the Guingamp player, according to Africafoot .

A former player at FC Toulouse, where he also trained, Kalidou Sidibé is one of Celtic Glasgow's priorities this summer with a view to replacing Crystal Palace's Ghanaian international midfielder, Jeffrey Schlupp , who is out of loan this summer.

On the other hand, other clubs are also interested in the player's profile, such as PSV Eindhoven, Grasshopper Zurich, Ipswich Town and Toulouse for a return .

Considered the tallest player in French Ligue 2 at 2.02m, Kalidou Sidibé has taken on a new dimension at EAG. He has truly established himself as the leader of the Guingamp team's midfield under Sylvain Ripoll.

The latter is full of praise for the progress of the 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who has scored two goals and provided five assists in 31 matches played this season in all competitions.

Kalidou Sidibé, who has made himself indispensable to En Avant Guingamp, recently spoke with national coach Tom Saintfiet with a view to joining the ranks of the Mali Eagles, who have qualified for the next Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

EA Guingamp will soon play their match on Matchday 28 of the French Ligue 2 championship against Stade Lavallois. The betting company 1xbet (you can download 1xbet here) offers the following odds for this match: EA Guingamp to win at 1.69, a draw is valued at 3.25, and Stade Lavallois to win at 4.30.

    He's the type we need.

The fact it says that we want to replace Schlupp with him though doesn't till me with confidence in the source.

Watch his highlights. We have somehow been linked immediately with the biggest, blackest DM. Who has no power or strength

Watching the highlights of him I would say he doesn’t look like an out and out defensive midfielder but more box to box. Despite looking wirey because of his height I wouldn’t say he looked like he lacked strength, he was easily holding guys off and looked press resistant to me.

A bit clumsy looking at times on the ball but at others he does well to spot some nice passes.

As you would expect at 6’7 he doesn’t lose many headers.

I think we should look closely at ligue 2 and Bundesliga 2 as they are both leagues that have a number of very good players in them at affordable prices.

Out and out DM’s aren’t really a thing anymore in this era of football. Can you think of any of the bigger teams or national teams with one?

There’s probably some kicking about, but it’s a dying position in football, will come back round when football cycles back round to the next style that catches on

I'm worried by the quality of Ligue 2, but height is a quality of its own, in UK football. Stick this lad at the near post on defensive set pieces, and we won't be conceding to anyone from them. Might score often, too.

Nowhere near the level required for first team.
But we are at least being linked with CDM type players, that's a good sign.

Sorry I didn’t really mean an out and out DM I meant he doesn’t look like he plays as the deepest of his teams midfield, he seemed to be more box to box.

Like to me it didn’t look like he would replace a McGregor but actually could complement him well as a double pivot or even as playing as a more box to box 8. He does look like the sort of profile of centre midfielder we need, whether he is good enough or not is hard to tell.

As I said above though Ligue 2 has some very decent players in it and I am sure we could find some very useful players there.

Looks like when your pal makes a custom player on pro evolution soccer and makes them an unnatural height.

Rodri isn’t a pure DM, more deep lying playmaker. Kante is in Saudi Arabia semi retired, and Casemiro end of his career and been dropped for Brazil.

Rabiot similar, not an out and out DM

    Think this is a goer.

3 different stories in two days. The most recent claiming his club are in dire straits and need a cash injection asap.

For less than 2m its a gamble worth taking. But im not expecting him to set new records. Except maybe having the biggest disco stick in the changing room.
