Just listened to the Zagreb guy on Celtic AM..

Their first choice keeper is out and they've got a guy in who's 37 and been a backup keeper for 10 year
Their best defender is a guy they signed from La Liga, he's out
They've got their main right back having to play on the left side and he's uncomfortable there because of injuries
They've got their captain Ademi out
They've got their best box to box midfielder Sucic out
Their main striker that everything goes through in Petkovic out

They struggle against Pace
The mood over there is terrible
New coach struggling
No won in 5
Only 3 goals in that time

I'm no going overconfident but I really fancy us..

 

I expect at least 2 of those injured players will feature.

 

Still think Sundays game is more important than this one as a defeat against Zagreb I can stomach but defeat against sevco is unacceptable and unthinkable with the squad we have got .

 

I'm sure BR will treat this like it's against fully fit team, over confidence is the enemy!

Zagreb will have this down as most winnable game too, against champions of a very poor quality Scottish league.

 

I have that feeling too about the injured boys playing out of nowhere. However, make no mistake aside from Slovan Bratislava this is the weakest team we have faced. That means nothing other than if we turn up we should be able to compete.

Given how our away form in Europe has been we can’t assume anything but there is a real chance for us to turn up, put a strong performance in and see where it takes us.

A referee who was previously suspended over a match-fixing bribe will take charge of Celtic's Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.


Felix Zwayer has been named as the match official for the league phase contest in Croatia on Tuesday night.

The 43-year-old has been named as referee with Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz running the line. Fourth official for the match will be Florian Badstubner.

Sascha Stegemann is the VAR official for the contest with Johan Pfeifer his assistant in the booth.

Referee Zwayer is a controversial figure having previously been suspended by the DFB for involvement in a match-fixing scandal


The real estate broker was banned by the German FA for allegedly accepting a €300 bribe during a 2. Bundesliga match between Wuppertaler SV and Werder Bremen B.

Zwayer - who refereed the Euro 2024 semi-final between England and the Netherlands - helped expose alleged match-fixing referee Robert Hoyzer who was later jailed and given a lifetime ban.

News of Zwayer's suspension and match-fixing allegations only came to light in German outlets last year after being kept quiet at the time as he co-operated with an investigation into Hoyzer.

The official has taken charge of two matches involving Celtic previously.

He first refereed a 2-1 loss for Celtic to Ajax in the Europa League group stage back in 2015 before overseeing the 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid last year.

 

Their keeper is injured and probably will be for a while.
The CB went off after ten minutes, maybe he's okay but you don't usually go off so quickly unless you're hurt.

Left back might be back, after a bit of rest. Probably will be.

Ademi was subbed off after 20 minutes, again must have been painful.

Petkovic hasn't started in over 2 months. Kulenovic is pretty solid himself though.

Sucic broke his foot a couple of weeks ago, he isn't playing.

Even if a couple come back they either won't be fit or will be carrying a knock.

 

Baturina was apparently injured and only got 25 minutes the weekend as well..

Im just glad Robert Prosinecki isn't playing for them anymore, he was outstanding, demolished us in mid field.

 

The most important thing is not to lose the match.. favourites to win but i'd be happy enough with a draw and no injuries. Then we go again on Sunday!!! HH

 

Would take a draw but I think we could sneak.a 3 1 win

 

No question we go into the game with confidence and belief but facts are we still have a poor record on the road in the Champions league at the group/league stage for quite some time now so for me to get a point tomorrow would be a very good result and one I would happily take now.

 

Like I said before no better chance for an away win in the champions league than this.

 

Just saw they haven't won a game in any competition since beginning of November. If we can't beat them away, we are cursed.

The rest will probably miss tomorrow night though.

A point would be a decent result on the board but i reckon as far as any record goes this season speaks for itself. We have momentum now and should continue with confidence. I trust us to get a result tbh, players like scales, johnstone and ccv will stand up and be counted, combine that with our ability to play as a team and it fills me with confidence.
