I hope he goes on to flourish. It just wasn’t to be for him at Celtic.

I still maintain that Rodgers hung him out to dry that day at Ibrox when he played him as striker. He was such a young lad and it was a nightmare.
Rodgers was making a point to the board and I think it really set Mikey back.

That said, his sitter when clean through against them at Hampden to make it 2-0 when we were under the cosh was appalling.

He has the talent, of that there is no doubt, but maybe it’s just time for him to wear a jersey that doesn’t hang so heavy on him.

 

Don't really care about the fee, to be honest with you. Another very good sale, though.

If this goes through since the January window closed, we have brought in £44.7m in fees which could rise to £54.5m with add ons. Sold 12 players permanently and loaned out a further 5 not including youth home grown players.

Even losing some money due to sell ons, which we will have we have added four players to date for £13m possibly rising to £14m. So currently sitting with a balance of £31.7m more brought in from transfers than spent with the potential that that could go as high as £39.5m.

Time to spend some of that on the team. It is worth noting that doesn’t include touching what cash we have in the bank £67m at last count).

That’s not to mention that we may yet still sell some of Nawrocki, Palma or Iwata.

For me, if we see no more outgoings and Johnston is the final one to go, this should be how our squad looks going forward.

Clearly, still some work to do but that's a squad of around 27. So, some more outgoings and incomings when January arrives but it's been a decent window if we ended up with something like that.

Wish Mikey Johnston nothing but the best. It never quite worked out for him to flourish at Celtic but he is genuinely one of us as a supporter and he got to play for Celtic almost 100 times and had his moments. Hopefully if this deal does get done in the next couple of days it works out really well for him. The fee at 2.5m is lower then I would have expected given the impact he had in the same division with WBA last season but maybe thats related to us signing Auston Trusty the other way. I guess we will find out soon enough.

 

All of a sudden this is our best window ever

 

Start of 19/20 he was our best player at the start of the campaign till he started to pick up all those knocks. Injuries killed him no doubt but he had all the attributes to be a top wide player imo.

I am not arguing against the fact the jersey may have been too heavy for him, I just get wound up at the majority opinion that he has nothing about him.

I seen him up close a lot coming through as he was my age and he was scary levels compared to the rest.

 

Can they offer us a centre back as part of the deal ?
