Why you get business done earlier unless we were relying on the MOR which in itself is criminal.

The boys we've bought or heavily linked with don't fit any criteria that meant we had to wait till the last minute. The fact it's the last minute is hindering and not helping us.

  1. If he’s the main target, get the hand in the pocket and get this done, fs.

Then learn the lessons later. No point in moaning about overspending when we could undeniably have done a cheaper, better deal for a good CB earlier in the window. Fact is we need guys in pronto, whether we have our pants pulled down or no. We have the money.

  2.

  3. We’ll end up getting him for £6m I’d say. Then Engels for £11m and hopefully Bogusz for £9m and that’ll be our lot as the board’s focus turns to getting Lawwell and Nicholson resuscitated.

  4. I reckon you're right.

Fear not though, * will still moan....

  5. Celtic have made an improved bid for Sheffield United star Auston Trusty, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (28 August) that the Glasgow giants have had a £5million bid rejected by the Blades.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have responded by upping their offer to £5.5million as they look to push the deal through before Friday’s (30 August) transfer deadline.

Trusty is just one of multiple late-window arrivals being worked on within the corridors of power at Parkhead.

He joined Sheffield United from Arsenal for a reported £5million last summer and Celtic are now offering the Yorkshire side the opportunity to make a profit despite their relegation from the Premier League.

He has made three appearances for the Blades so far in the new campaign, two of which have come as part of the starting lineup.

  6. Here’s hoping mate. * will always moan.

Some of the nonsense spouted is baffling. “Bogusz isn’t worth that money we should turn our attention elsewhere”

Is that right aye? Seen him play more than once or on YouTube have you?

  7. I don't see them accepting that, think it'll take £6 or even £6.5 million.

As stayed prior, it's overpaying but we arent at the stage where we can haggle, overpay and take lessons from it.

  8. Trusty getting the same treatment as Idah was in here at last transfer window. He has the chance of a redemption arc, prove his doubters wrong. The type of player we have gone for in the past and redeveloped.

  9. Indeed.

Or, "Rodgers will walk after Sunday" :56:

3 guys will (imo) be in the door for Friday deadline, but it will still be "ridiculous....we needed 4!"

  10. An increase of 500k is unlikely to do it. IF that's true.

This is surely the kind of incrimental bidding you do at an earlier stage not when you're needing things over the line.

We might need to 'overpay' for these guys given the stage we are at.

  11. why are we not trying the old loan to buy in this situation then if he is as pish as everyone seems to think we wont have wasted several million on him

  12. Aye we're getting haggled to * now as clubs know we're minted, particularly off the back of punting O'Riley for a record fee.....plus it being close to the window closing..

Trust what we're doing bit we could probably get better value elsewhere..

Another thing is personally i would've kept Mikey until they accepted an offer as that was our bargaining tool. Now we've punted him for less than I think we could've got and are getting our pants pulled down for a player who's had a nightmare season.....and they're happy to get rid of..

  13. If we go up by £1m we might come across even more desperate, then we end up paying £7m. We’ve backed ourselves into a corner now.

  14. It does seem like a pretty big gamble given the money it looks like we’re gonna have to pay. At least with someone like CCV, we got to have a look at him first.

I’ve never seen the guy play but defo more nervous about paying over the odds for him than someone like Engels based on reports. Think we’re just gonna have to trust the manager on this one.

  15. ive never seen him play but the number of people saying he is * is a bit concerning ,* knows if rodgers seems happy to spend over £5m on him he must have something about him

  16. Theyve never seen him play either tbf

  17. I think we'll get him in for around £6m. Is it overpaying? Probably, aye. But how many times have we complained that we haven't gone that extra million to get the preferred target in.

Encouraging to see the purse strings be loosened a wee bit.

  18. They've never seen him either.

Put it this way, the clubs that MJ was linked with.......all their fans seemed to be getting excited about the prospect of him signing. Now if they came on here and looked at his thread they'd * collapse.

  19. Don't think I want him.
