Yep and VVD too. There’s doubts about a lot of players we haven’t heard of. Jota too, especially after his debut he looked very average.

We just have to wait and see how it goes that’s all we can do. I don’t remember being that excited about Wanyama, VVD, Kelvin Wilson even Hatate and ORiley weren’t huge signings at the time and looked how they turned out. Was buzzing at Duffy, Ajeti etc and that didn’t work.

See how they get on after 10-15 games.

Not overly enthused with the link but sounds like one the manager is after. Got to trust Rodgers with who he wants in the door - he's earned that after last season.

Tbf I think the issue is a lot of people have heard of him and have seen him.

It's not the sort of signing I was hoping for at CB but what I will say is, Rodgers will be able to coach him to be far better. Can't have been easy going into Sheffield United and being coached by Paul Heckingbottom and * Chris Wilder.

Seemed to be highly rated during a loan spell down in Birmingham. Can only hope that's the sort of player we see. I do trust Rodgers to get the best out of him, though.

Willing to give him the benefit. Like others have said, maybe we'll be the club that he fits.

He had a great season at Birmingham and was highly rated by arsenal. Was part of a horrific Sheffield utd team last season as was vini sousa who 99% of this forum wanted signed in 2022

I feel like we are just at the stage now where people are desperate for signings so I totally understand that we need a CB and folk will just go with this as a result.

However if we were linked earlier on or if this has been our plan all along, there's no denying it's a bit underwhelming.

Time will tell and if he signs like any player I'd back him.

Sheffield united playing in the cup later. Will see if he’s in the squad

He's not my first choice, and he was awful last year, but if we can get him back to his form before he went to Sheffield United, we'd be laughing.

It's a big if mind you

I don't think that's quite fair, to be honest. Haven't seen anyone say he's a baller or even going above and beyond the defend the signing. I think positive points fans are trying to make on here is that he showed he can have a very impactful season, like he did at Birmingham and working with someone like Rodgers will bring the best out of him.

I was hoping for more at centre back, absolutely. Truth be told, I consistently had my heart set on someone like O'Shea, who was out of reach. My defence of the signing is that it can't have been easy working under 2 utterly useless managers like Heckingbttom and Wilder. As some have suggested, Vini Souza, who was statistically miles ahead of most defensive midfielders in Europe the season we were linked, looked like he had won a raffle to play.

Not that his performances last season get eradicated from memory, I just think there can be positive arguments made for his horrendous season. I don't think anyone is just 'going with the result', I think it's clear that it's a player Rodgers wants and likely a play Rodgers has targeted specifically. So, we need to trust the manager to get the player he wants and we need to trust the board will sign the player for Rodgers.

Is it the type of quality that screams 'end of window' or 'domino effect'... I'm not sure. Is it underwhelming? Probably.

So what I've said is kinda what you're saying also as you agree ir could be construed as underwhelming? That's essentially all I'm saying here. Not saying anyone is going over and above.

I just feel like people are maybe clutching a bit and hoping he regains form, hoping that Rodgers can get something out of him etc.

These are all ofcourse very real possibilities. Just feel like we could have pushed the boat out a bit more. And he was absolutely muck last year and sewn some clips from the weekend where he wasn't great either so there needs to be a turnaround in his fortunes.

I will say that we generally have decent luck with signings from that level so who knows.

Here's hoping that if he does come, he can form a decent partnership with CCV as they've played together before. Sometimes that's all it takes is it have trust with a partner. For all the criticism Starfelt got in a Celtic shirt, his partnership with CCV was one of the best we've had in recent years. I don't think they lost a domestic game where they played together. I have my doubts over Trusty as well but I'm sure he can improve in the right setup.

Ampadu was part of a terrible Sheffiled United team in the EPL previously playing at CB in a team shipping goals every week. He got relegated with them, Leeds signed him, and now he's one of the best centre mids in the Championship. Very hard to make judgement calls on players when they play in teams that are completely out of their depth.

Hard to judge players who have played at teams like Sheff Utd during hard times.

So many factors in play in situations like that.

Have to admit that I feel like this is the club's approach with Rodgers and the fans.

Just wait and then we'll accept anything as being a positive.

    It's a movie I've seen before!

But hopefully he's sensational and we all love him *

    Definitely seen this film before.

I haven't seen much of him at all. Youtube highlights got me excited though. He seems quick and strong. I like that in a center back.
