The stadium is very tired looking. Wouldn't take a huge amount of money to make a bit of a difference.

Like paying for some * paint.

We should get one of those big cranes installed in the 18 yard box, I hear they are all the rage.

No. If Celtic approached UEFA and applied to host a European final the SFA can’t object.
Certain parts of the stadium needs updated before it could host a final.
Definitely needs full stadium unobstructed views from every seat.
Asked Celtic park guide about it on stadium tour

  10. Would think this should be an ongoing project.
Starting with say the corner where away fans are, when season ends, wouldn't be a big disturbance to just knock that and build a new 2 story corner stand attached to existing stand and leave ready to tie in to next phase.
In this day and age of pre cast concrete, could this be done in a few months with proper planning?

  11. The longer it's left the costlier it will be to update.

  13. People who have looked into the financial comparison between Celtic and Newco rangers regularly bring up the fact that as long as Celtic have 10,000 more seats than newco rangers we will always have a substantial financial advantage over them. So its fairly obvious that if we were to enhance our capacity to 70,000 that financial advantage would become even bigger. We have enough people on the season ticket waiting list to take those extra tickets. For that reason alone I would say its a no-brainer to enhance the capacity of Celtic Park.

  14. For the greater good of Scottish football it has to happen to help bridge the financial gap with other sides outwith our league and am no even thinking about epl when a say that I’m talking about championship with their recent tv deal

  15. Surely it would possible, and financially prudent to slap on a new tier above the main stand.

That * lawell can give his seat up for a few months.

As @moravcik1888 said, our stadium capacity is what gives us an inherent financial advantage over sevco.

At the very least, repaint that * piping around the stadium, expand the standing section, and get a Henke statue commissioned.

I'm all for expanding the south stand and completing the look of the stadium.

But see if they are gonna keep refusing to push on with that idea, then at least get the finger out and properly modernise the stadium.
It's 30 years old now, excluding the south stand.

About time it got proper money spent on it to bring it up a level.

Had to resubmit planning permission for the hotel so that I could add plans for a vape shop, American candy shop, and a fried chicken shop called Pistol Pete's Peri Peri Pitstop.

Haven't heard back from them yet

    100%.

I've argued this before. Even if it was for the 2 games at home vs the huns per season, and the usually 3 (now 4) champions league home games.

Celtic would make a return on investment pretty quickly with even 6 games per season.

They could sell home games vs huns and European games twice over nae bother.

If they're charging 45 or 50 bangers a ticket times 20 thousand, plus probably more corporate *. Could easily make Celtic Park 80,000 capacity.

Okay, the downside would be the home games vs Ross County and that, but still it would be worth it to get another 10,000 or 20,000 fans on those big games.

    Imagine the * noise.

6 games at £50 a pop and an extra 20k support is an extra 6m a season.
I'm sure they said it was to be over 100m to do the south stand up to match?
It'd take 16/17 years at just selling those 6 games and nothing else.

But chances are, you leave that part of the stadium (behind the cameras) as individual tickets only and you're likely selling at least another 5000 per game anyway, which is another 2.5m if we sold those tickets at £30.
Which would make the time frame more like 11-12 years.

That doesn't even account for the fact that we would be selling merchandise and food&beverage at these games as well which increases the income.

Nor does it account for the fact we have a waiting list for season tickets, which we could at current time sell probably 10k for next season no issues - at a £600 a season cost that's £6m yet again. Which would bring the time frame of paying for itself down to 7 years.

I think it's very much justified to push for an increase in the stadium if it could be paid back within 10 years of doing it.

And that's without even thinking we could sell naming/sponsor rights.
