Great post KD. The way i see it we were being linked with Tamas, Basa etc, then the Huns go out of europe. Seems to me the board thought , oh well thats them * for money, we'll not bother either. Don't think they have strengthened that much. Mendes is good , nothing more ! But we have failed to take an opportunity to become the dominant force in Scotland for years and to push to the next level in Europe. FFS we are playing with a right back at left back, how is that good football or business sense. Thats like McLaren F1 using a bus driver instead of Lewis Hamilton !!! We know we don't want to return to the dark days and Lawwell and the board are to be congratulated for their efforts to bring debt down, but we were handed a bonus of the Huns Euro TV money, a bit more positive investment in the team would be good !! If we * up in the CL by not strengthening then eventually Scotland will lose that automatic group stage place, cos lets face it the huns are not helping !

major signing on transfer deadline day

Surprised Lawell has not celebrated this super signing.Bagshaw joins BhoysPublished: 02/09/2008RISING star Callum Bagshaw has signed a three-year deal with Celtic after leaving the Dons before the transfer window slammed shut. The Parkhead club have agreed to pay Aberdeen a compensation fee for the 16-year-old.Rangers were also keen on Callum, while Leicester City and Aston Villa also expressed an interest, but Celtic have won the race.

"WE WILL PROVIDE ALL THE FUNDS TO THE MANAGER TO STRENGTHEN THE TEAM TO TRY AND PROGRESS IN THE CL"

That is just one quote has this happend?

You will say yes I would say no.

We will have to agree to dis-agree.

BTW I am only going round in circles as you seem to be struggling to understand my stance, you even said as much in your last post. I am glad that at least you can now see what I am saying, you may not agree but at least you can see my point.

    Same here.

The word 'try' is very important.

Hi Hammer, I usually agree with your posts mate, but I have to disagree on thie one.

Both the Tamas and Basa deals fell through due to finance restrictions - 2 players WGS highlighted that he wanted and 2 deals that collapsed because the board didn't financially support the manager.

Fair enough mate, i'm not here to please everyone all the time!

Perhaps both those deals did fall through due to financial restrictions. The board didn't lie and tell us we were going to sign either though like some would suggest.

I think the problem here lies with the term 'lies', there is a difference between intimating your going to do everything in your power to strengthen the squad and lieing to the people that sustain the club. It's not as if they sat on their hands, we did outlay several millions this transfer window with no outgoing transfers.

In my eyes there is no way whatsoever you could say we have been lied to, we have not.

Nailon head Tamster - this'll go round and round for ages - we'll just have to agree that the way things are said and the way they are received is going to be different for different people.

Some of us will agree to agree and the rest agree to disagree.

Hail hail - here's to 4 IAR in any case. I will yet again put my faith in WGS and his coaching abilities.

    aye, the word try.

then he doesn't try and sign a left back, its not the fact he couldn't find one, or no one wanted to join.

its the fact he said he wouldn't panic buy, it wasn't a panic buy in the feckin first place.

    * i wanna crack up about the board but i cant ........the reason?
well look at what they have done since fergus left.
1-the debt is down from i think 35m -3.75m thats excellant.
2-we have built lennoxtown which was way overdue
3-we are now in a position where we dont have to sell our best to balance books!
4-we are also been in cl for the pastfew years with progressing to the last 16 twice in a row.
i agree we need decent players now no question but i think the board just this once should be left off the hook.and aye im pissd of we didnt get a lb.but just look at these things 1st and just say to yourself i suppose so.........but just this once!!!

All fair, but I feel we have been mis-led for a number of seasons now, not just this window.

Their has to be a limit to how much smoke and mirrors we can accept, I truly hope we continue the status quo(the least acceptable scenario IMV) and pick up the league at the end of the season.

If we don´t then people will say hindsight when they refer to this window, it´s not hindsight we´ve stood still and we all know it.

Shhh don´t say lie, spun is more acceptable.:84:

BTW I would be interested to hear the views on that link I posted from the members on hear.
