Liam Kelly

  1. I had reasonable hopes for Siegrist. I'm not sure why he's been so far away from the squad.

The step up from the rest of the league to us is huge. The keeper role seems one of the hardest to make the step up.

  2. We're going to be linked to a lot of keepers over the coming weeks, as we essentially need another 2 this summer.

    Doubt there's much in this.

  3. For me....should have 2 keepers fighting for no.1 and the 3rd should be youth/reserve Im case of injury. Tough enough to break through harder forward GK.

  4. I'd be fine with him as back up but he can't be first choice.
With Turnbull gone and likely Johnston not being here next season we are short for homegrown and I'd imagine we will sign a couple of homegrown this summer.

  5. If it's as a 2nd choice replacement for Scott Bain it's no the worst. If it was a to compete as 1st choice, get *.

Scott Bain has just extended so I doubt he's leaving

  6. Not a chance we will sign Kelly. One of the worst keepers in the league. Would rather have Gordon back.

  7. Agreed.

But can't see us punting Bain, so will only be one signing this window as far as I see.

    Number 1, Bain, Tobi.
    That's your three.

Albeit if ship Bain out as well and get someone else who can actually challenge and push the number 1 up. Taking over when ready.

Normally would agree. But the McGowan piece worries me. He's the usual one we leak to.

  9. Is he?
Just no danger we go for this guy.

Defo won't be no.1 choice but even as a 3rd? Na. Would much have youth ahead

  10. Agree again.

Yeah I'm under the impression McGowan is out go to guy.
At least he's the one who's normally on the money.

I'm always inclined to believe if he says something, then there is something in it.

Ie, we may have spoken with him, but surely to * we won't go further than that - never should have got that far to be honest.

  11. We've been linked to like 7 goalkeepers so I'm not paying much attention to any of these links yet.

  12. Would want to agree, but this is the first I believe that's came from a credible source.

    I'm concerned.

  13. We’d be better with Ned Kelly. No thanks.

  14. Of all the players in the Scottish League that we could and should be going for, he is definitely not one of them.

  15. The Motherwell stopper is out of contract at the end of the season and a report claimed Kelly was being targeted by Celtic for a summer transfer.
However, the Scottish Sun claim Celtic won't pursue a move for Kelly.

The former Rangers goalkeeper - who is widely expected to make the Scotland squad for the Euros - is said to be likely to return to England in the summer.

  16. CELTIC WON'T be pursuing a move for Motherwell goalkeeper Liam Kelly, SunSport understands.

Eyebrows were raised overnight when it emerged that the Scotland squad man - formerly of Rangers - was on a list of summer transfer targets

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has previously said that the Parkhead side could even sign TWO new goalkeepers this summer.

That's with Joe Hart counting down the days to his retirement this summer and speculation that Benji Siegrist could follow him out the door.

It's seen a raft of goalkeepers across Europe and beyond linked with the Hoops - including current Scotland No 1 Angus Gunn.

Siegrist and Scott Bain are both under contract until 2026 - but contrary to reports the Hoops won't be pursuing a move for Kelly.

And that's likely to signal a return to England for the 28-year-old, who previously graced Queen's Park Rangers.

Kelly seems set to travel with Scotland for Euro 2024 in Germany - having made his debut in a friendly defeat to France in October.

After coming through the ranks at Rangers, Kelly moved on to play for Livingston.

  17. It wasn't the fact he started out with the hun that was raising eyebrows.....

  18. If he is backup and he falls under the 'home grown' rules for Europe I can see why it makes sense.
