Definetely m.o.m for me tonight. Barely lost a header, tackling was good and some excellent passes. Welsh had a couple of dodgy moments early on but got better as the game went on. Dont think anyone is getting scales place from him anytime soon. Great to see

Has some dodgy moments but I can't help but like this guy. He's been better than CCV this season.

Wouldn’t look out of place in an early 2000’s AC Milan defence, pler.

He’s been a massive surprise this season but let’s no start honking on crack pipes.

He brings us balance in defence, he’ll stick his heid in where it hurts and his distribution is normally good but CCV is on a different stratosphere as a centre half.

Guy is a baller. Won't be as consistently excellent as CCV but is as close to it as almost any defender I've seen in the hoops recently. Does not get the credit he deserves.

He's done brilliantly, and could well continue to improve given he's a centre half and they peak later. Hope Brendan persists for now.

Tbh he does get the credit right now. He big difference though is watch how he needs replaced instantly because one loss against Kilmarnock. CCV wouldn't get moaned at but big scales would be removed and sold. Just look at the comments from the last game. Guys been * solid. No his faul that * fake footballer played next to him at the weekend scoring own goals. He's on target for player of the year imo.

Aye that's what I mean mate, he was getting hunted after that defeat on Sunday by a lot of folk. 'Nowhere near Celtic class' patter was getting thrown about. Totally unfair as he's been * immense all season, as you say POTY contender 100%.

He had several bad games in a row tbf. Glad he seems to be back on form, but it wasn't one game.

This is the issue for me. Scales and Welsh are getting high praise for their performances.

Feyenoord walked through our central defence too easily far too often. If we hadn't won that game there would be more focus on the problems.

The result has plastered over the performance, another night could of been tanked and players slaughtered.

Given the unconventional defensive pairing, were you anticipating a different outcome?

Welsh, 23, hardly kicked a ball.
Scales, 25, hardly a veteran and barely a first team regular partnering two different CBs in the one game.

Looking at the match stats, both teams had similar shots on target.

Winning under these circumstances stands as a testament to their commendable performance, particularly when considering the adversity posed by the unconventional defensive setup.

Deserves to have a run with CCV and whatever left back we hopefully sign in January. He's not perfect but I do feel a lot of what people perceive as his mistakes or poor positioning is actually him trying to cover for either whoever is filling in for CCV on the day or, more often, trying to plug the massive gap Grey Taylor always leaves on the left.

Usually the same handful of people, can't help themselves but dive in with negativity like the sky is falling every other day, same in the Oh thread recently, on the scoresheet twice last week and was the right decision to start him over Kyogo while he's in a rut, then doesn't score at the weekend (while playing generally alright compared to a lot of what was on display) and that's 'proof' again that he's * and will never be good enough for us, it's mental.

It's a European game against a * good side, peformance was great tbh. on another night we could have been tanked?.. whit the * that?, ye could come oot with that after any game. we weren't tanked we won and Scales was a big part of it.

Whit is up with folk just wanting to lay the boot in for any reason this season, now we got hypotheticals to slate the team about.
