    Empty shirt for us.

Panel of shay given and Kevin Doyle questioning how a player of his ability can't get in the Celtic team.. he done a few step overs ffs..

  3. Tbf he played well and has been good each time he’s played for Ireland but I think the two of them should take a look at how well our current left winger is doing

  4. They wouldn't have a clue who Luis Palma is..

  5. Played 77 mins, got motm. Good run out for him, could’ve worked his way into getting a few mins off the bench for us this weekend, time will tell.

  6. There will be chances for him over the next wee while, no doubt about that. It's now or never time for the boy, if he can't grab it now he never will.

  7. I’ve always liked him and just felt for him with injuries but in fairness I’d he doesn’t make it with us this season there’s no reason at all for him to stay, and I think he’d go elsewhere n still have a decent career. That being said I would like to see him get more chances even as a sub coming off the bench as it’s a long season for us and one or two injuries or suspensions we could be light. I don’t think right now he’ll get a start for us but if he comes off the bench n plays decent he might get his chance.

  8. Agree with all of that, exactly where I'm at with him. Obviously his injury record has been the main issue, but I always think just a wee spark for a player can give them confidence to build on. You just never know.

  9. Sat in a sunny bar watching the ROI game tonight, Johnston was brilliant.

  10. I’m pretty sure that’s his second man of the match for Ireland in only a handful of games and just 2/3 starts so he’s taking his chance there albeit Ireland have a lot less creative players than Celtic but showing good signs there, we’ve seen with the likes of oh and Yang when they’ve got more of a chance and more minutes they’ve stepped up so I think he definitely can aswell if not part ways but I think he should get a chance between now and the new year with our schedule of fixtures.

  11. He's a lot of fun to watch which is not something I often get to say about Irish players. He's never going to really suit a heavy possession based team like Celtic though, which (aside from all the injuries) is his biggest problem here. You really see his quality for Ireland because we don't dominate the ball, so often when he does receive it, it's in transition.

Considering without him we (Ireland) have almost nobody who can penetrate a defense, even if his dribbling past a player only comes off 1 in 3 times it's still going to be celebrated, because it's more than we normally manage :giggle1:.

Comes across very well in the interviews too, seems a nice lad.

  13. Yeah the international matches have suited him since the games are more open definitely as opposed to up against a packed defence. His trickery and ability to beat a man can be crucial in certain games like that.
And yeah you’re spot on I think with regards to him dribbling past players sometimes it doesn’t come off but good when it does but that is expected from wingers I think they are won’t always beat a man but you want them to always be positive and direct.
Like last night Mikey’s first two times getting on the ball he lost it twice trying to beat a man and I thought ffs here we go, then he went on to have a great game n motm performance.

Sometimes getting 15-20 mins if ye make them mistakes you’ll be judged more harshly but if you start and get 70 mins say you can afford to make a couple mistakes as long as you create a lot more chances

  15. With the lack of wingers at the minute, id like to see him get game time ahead of Jamsey.

  16. I think another big difference is the crowd reaction, after those first two times losing the ball, if he'd done it in a Celtic shirt the groans would have started. I think Irish fans are a lot more forgiving because we're not used to the quality of attacking players Celtic have had and I think that definitely helps a player like MJ. Definitely not a knock on Celtic fans, it's just a different in expectations and what we're used to.

Mikey is one of them you desperately want to see do well but I just don't see it with us now. If he can get run of games injury free then maybe but first concern would be steering clear of injuries.
