His scoring record is nowhere near as bad as some ofthe duds we've had over the years. You would think someone would have took him off our hands before now. Must be on daft wages.

 

You weren’t the only one . Was delighted when it was going to be a loan then changed to a permanent. Barkas as well , thought it was a great window !

I think the wages are the biggest obstacle similar to Mccarthy. They are two players i think will need a pay off.

 

I honestly don't think he's as lazy and lacking as some people would have you believe. Plenty of examples of him doing us a turn (Lille away + Betis away instantly stand out). Major thing going against him is the fact we've shelled out big money to have him here, otherwise I honestly wouldn't be opposed to trying again with him.

 

He’ll be on 25k+ id imagine. Came from the EPL and would have been on similar if not more.

 

Both Albian Ajeti and James McCarthy are still officially Celtic players. The Swiss forward has a year to run on his contract while the Ireland midfielder’s deal doesn’t expire until 2025.

A £5m signing from West Ham in 2020, Ajeti scored on his debut against Dundee United but managed just six goals in 30 games in his first season and three in 17 in his second.

His last goal was almost two years ago against Real Betis in Seville. He went on loan to Sturm Graz last season but rarely played.

It’s understood that Ajeti and his agent have so far rejected Celtic’s offer to pay up a percentage of his remaining year - a la Vasilis Barkas - and, as things stand, he plans to sit tight.

Wouldn’t even send him on loan if we don’t get a fee for him, let him rot on the bench for the colts or clean the lads cars. * * think he’d just take the good will gesture of the money and then he can go find a club

 

So why are we surprised that he’s now doing the same when he’s leaving? Spots, leopard and all that.

Said before he went on loan....that he was a bad apple,definitely a wrong un.
Bring him back and get him to clean the toilets and sell pies on match days.

 

I was gonna say make him be a ball boy, but tbh he'd do a disservice to the young lads.

 

It's our fault for giving him a big contract, he has every right to sit on it if nobody is offering equal money. Happened with big Bobo way back, McCarthy now, and I don't expect Forrest to move on when we gave him a new deal even if he's not playing anymore. It's * but it is what it is.

It just shows you what footballers have become, no many out there just playing for the love of playing, it's nearly all financial at elite level. I know myself I wouldn't want to be a footballer just to rock up to training every day with no care if I played on the weekend or not.

 

Theres a lot out there who are happy to do the same thing as Ajeti and McCarthy are doing. It doesnt just happen to us.

Was it the third choice goalkeeper Carson (the North of Ireland guy) at Man City. Played in one game ever and it was some kind of cameo appearance.

Also Lallana at Liverpool. Did exactly the same thing. Just sat on a contract for years but being careful to turn up for training every day and do absolutely nothing wrong so that the club had zero excuses to rip up his contract.

That Mesut Ozil ripped the total * out of Arsenal for years doing the same thing aswell

I always find it a bit unfair that Mccarthy gets tarred with this brush.

He still has 2 years to go so highly unlikely we've offered to pay him off due to the amount he's on at this stage.

Think given his age he's probably keen to go out and play, really doubt he's wanting his career to finish this way.

His problem is absolutely nobody wants him so he can't leave.

 

Oh there are loads out there I totally know that, just baffles me that people's ethics are so low though, if you think how many people would love to have the talent to play at that level. Quite sad really.
