Weird to pick Notts Forest as an example. They have two European Cups. I'd actually genuinely respect joining them over Spurs. :giggle1:

I thought Rodgers was out of reach before he joined.
Potter has no job and plenty of cash in the bank. He might fancy the challenge of a new league.

Iraoli well ahead for me - coached a team successfully in a much better league and has a number of scalps against higher quality teams such as Barca, Madrid, Atletico. Heavily influenced by Bielsa.

He's alot more tactically flexible than Knutsen. Uses a combination of zonal and man to man pressing depending on the opposition. Knows how to set a team up against higher quality opposition. This is key in the Champions League.

Knutsen only has a plan A which is all out attack and I'd say an even more aggressive press than Ange which if done wrong is a disaster waiting to happen. I really think we should move on from that approach. His inflexibility is a real worry for me.

Whoever the manager is. Can we honestly say as we sit here today the board will back him the way they where going to back ange?

I can't see it at all. We will have a significant turnover of players out the door lowest being 6 imo its going to be a huge rebuild and guy will need to get given time but he won't be given a huge budget.

I would imagine we'll spend good money regardless this Summer, we did well in Ange's first season and truthfully it isn't really about backing our manager, it's more about trusting our recruitment team to get the signings right, as we should be relying on that a lot more than player's the manager wants.

I'd be surprised if we suddenly change the approach we've had since Ange came in. Nicholson seems to have done a good job so far at setting a good standard, and we have plenty of cash to spend.

    I'd take Knutsen.

But I wonder if Brown would be interested in being assistant to Potter?

I'd like tae see Broony back not as manager, but in some capacity.

For manager i think Knutsen would be a good appointment, someone mentioned it the other day, would like to see us tap into the Scandanavian market.

Can't pick two but I'm genuinely caught between Iraiola and Knutsen.

In the end, I picked Knutsen because I always felt that he would do really well for us.

Hope the club are looking at this sort of poll, though. We know Iraiola wants the job, we know Bodo have allowed us to talk to Knutsen. None of them are out of our reach and going for a Maresca, Moyes or Marsch sends the wrong message to the fans.

    Article from NRK 4th June:

Rumors have swirled around Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen after he was linked to the vacant Ajax job. But the protagonist himself is clear on when he will eventually want to leave Bodø.

De Telegraaf wrote that Ajax's new sporting director Sven Mislintat had been in contact with Knutsen's agent.

The Dutch club are on the hunt for a manager after Alfred Schreuder was sacked in January.

Nor has John Heitinga, who has taken over as coach, impressed Mislintat enough to allow him to continue in the job.

And the interest seems to be great from the Dutch side.

Vålerenga confirmed before the start of the match on Sunday that Ajax had two representatives on site at the Intility Arena to study Knutsen and Bodø/Glimt more closely.

    - No other plans but Glimt
Since the rumors started swirling earlier this week, Knutsen has been bombarded with questions about whether he is interested - and current - for the Ajax job.

But the protagonist has had to repeat himself once again: That his focus is in Bodø/Glimt - and only there.

    - Then we get to find out, mostly for the club's part, when it is right for players or coaches to do something else. But right now, the place I am in is an incredibly good place to be, Knutsen continues to TV 2.

Nor when NRK asked Knutsen about the Ajax job after the cup match against Junkeren on Thursday, Knutsen let himself be swayed.

    - I do not respond to rumours. I've said it many times - and I'll say it again - I'm enjoying myself and have no other plans than to be in Glimt.

    - Knutsen is a special man
Because it is not only Ajax that has apparently been interested in the services of the Bergen player.

In the last couple of years, Knutsen has - to a greater or lesser extent - been connected to a number of clubs abroad:

November 2021 : Knutsen sailed up as the odds-setters' favorite in England to take over that club Norwich , after Daniel Farke was fired.

December 2021 : Knutsen's agent Morten Wivestad tells VG that the Bergen native had turned down several inquiries from abroad.

Among these are several top clubs in Scandinavia, but also clubs in countries such as England, Belgium and the Netherlands.

According to the newspaper, there should also have been a concrete offer from the MLS club Los Angeles FC .

Februar 2022: Two days before Bodø/Glimt meeting Celtic in the Conference League, scottish newspaper Daily Record wrote that Knutsen was considered as an «outsider» to take the job at league rivals Aberdeen. But Knutsen did never become the Aberdeen manager, and Glimt won 5–1 on aggregate against Celtic.

Juni 2022: Bodø/Glimts former academy boss, Gregg Broughton took over as sporting director at Blackburn. Not long after bookies in England predicted that Knutsen was concidered for the job as manager.

September 2022: After Brighton manager Graham Potter left the club for Chelsea, Knutsen was linked to the club on the English south coast. Reknown papers like The Telegraph and The Athletic wrote that Knutsen was under concideration.

September 2022 : Around the same time as Knutsen was linked to Brighton, Bournemouth were also without a coach. The Athletic thought Knutsen was an obvious candidate for the job.

November 2022 : Once again, Knutsen was linked to Scottish football by the British TV channel Sky News. This time to Rangers , who had just got rid of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

February 2023 : Both the BBC and the Daily Mirror had Knutsen on the list of possible candidates to take over Leeds after Jesse Marsch was sacked.

Sports journalist Freddy Toresen in Avisa Nordland has followed Glimt closely for a number of years. He believes Knutsen when he says that he does not allow himself to be distracted by the flood of rumours.

    - Knutsen is a special man. He goes extremely "all in" where he is at all times.

    - When the rumors about Ajax appeared, Knutsen's mind was on the matches against Junkeren (in the cup) and Vålerenga (in the Eliteserien). I think as of now he is totally unaffected by the speculation.

    - Must have a new coach now
In addition, Toresen believes that the timing of the rumors surrounding Ajax is not to the Dutch's advantage.

Because while Norway plays the spring-autumn season, most other nations in Europe play the autumn-spring season.

    - Ajax must have a new coach for the start of the season in July. So if the Dutch are going to have Knutsen, it is now - and not when the Norwegian series is finished. They are going to stake out a new course and can't wait.

He believes Knutsen is aware of how much influence he has in Bodø/Glimt, and is aware that this will not necessarily be the case in bigger clubs out in Europe.

    - I am not convinced that he had brought the whole of Ajax, Dortmund or Club Brugge - to take a few examples - that "This is the way we are going to do it. If he takes over Ajax, it is someone other than Knutsen who will bring players to the club.

At the same time, he believes that if Ajax had made contact, Knutsen would at least have to listen to what they have to say.

    - But one thing I think is certain: If Ajax does not sign Knutsen now, then there will be even more speculation about Kjetil until the season in Norway is over.

PS: On Wednesday next week, Bodø/Glimt play away to Ranheim in the cup's third round.

    Knutsen
    Iraola
    Potter

That’s the order, all 3 have a good knowledge and contacts in European football which will be key for bolstering the squad. Plus all play an exciting brand of football to continue the foundations already there.

I hope the board have the same thoughts as the guys in this thread.

Knutsen would be my first choice, thought his team were immaculately organised and they gave us a footballing lesson. We were miles off them in both legs.

Iraoli sounds quite tasty as well, managed in a strong league, has played against the big boys plenty of times, knows he has a great chance of silverware here. Plus the songs the green brigade could come up with for him would be class.

I want us to go down that road of thinking, forget English football, Moyes etc. I'm glad Rodgers has ruled himself out. Thank * for that.

Would prefer knutsen but he won't leave mid season by the looks of it so honestly I have no idea.
Brendan by all accounts wants to take time out, Marsch I'm not sure about.

Got a feeling we will end up with maresca.

The more I look into Kieran McKenna as a potential candidate the more I am intrigued. Seems to possess all the necessary qualities to be a top top coach. Plays great attacking football and the fact he has been involved with top-level clubs under top managers would make me less nervous about him making such a massive step up.
