Ange Postecoglou

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by Mr. Slippyfist, May 29, 2021.

  1. What was he meant to say though? If you say you're away before the end of the season, it brings negativity into the club ahead of the cup final, casts a dark cloud over the league/treble celebrations. If you say you're considering it, it just ups the speculation, the manager's position becomes a distraction. Saying nothing either way is pretty much all you're left with, better than saying you're staying and then * off at the very least.

  2. It’s the heat. Too * hot to engage your brain.

  3. I done the whole shebang a few months ago, nephew was up from London, was * with rain so fired on: Happy Gilmore, Grandma's Boy, Dodgeball, Waterboy and Goon. He * off to his room after Happy Gilmore, I had the best day in ages! Haha

  4. I don’t believe the vast majority are that’s bollocks most are disappointed but don’t let that detract you from trying to be some sort of authority figure on how people are supposed to feel or that your better than anyone else just cause your not bothered

Just to throw my 2 cents on this Tommy Burns quote stuff - do you think he was doing that just to schmooze the fans? We sang his name every week already so he didn't need any more good will or adulation from us at that point. "you're there and you're always there" is a compliment to the fan base and one of the most famous quotes in Celtic history. It's hardly sacrilege to relay it back on trophy day during a treble winning season.

Do I think Ange felt an affinity and passion for Celtic and the fans, culture, history of the club? Yeah I do.

Does that mean he would never leave and had reached his personal dream job? No.

It stings and was unexpected but people are looking for reasons to dislike him now that just aren't there imo. The thing he said about "you'll be surprised how long I'm here" was more of a slap in the face but I doubt he thought a team with the potential of spurs would come in given it was relegation fodder he was being linked with at that time.

I'm not angry about it. I'm disappointed, it's taken some of the shine but I do to an extent think it shows that although many English fans don't respect us the Premier league itself does.
In the end I'm a grown *, hating someone for leaving is silly. We poached him from a club mid-season, he left his Country just before a World Cup, it's what he does. I'd be more upset with the club for being ill prepared for the situation.

Well it’s just another chapter in our history, he has went and that’s it we thank him for the service and move on
I’m actually intrigued as to who will come through and take over.

will Kennedy and Kewell take over and continue the process,
    Will Rodgers return
Will Martin O’Neil come back I. Some capacity
Or will we look for the next City Group Manager to come in
Or could we entice Potter or a similar calibre with a attack minded system to take over

exciting times at least this time we have a squad capable of achieving we’re not in the same state as when Ange took over maybe we’ll get someone who can add a different level to our game and make us more competitive in the CL

Away and dry yer * with a warm flannel.

  10. I imagine CCV and big Joe will be getting a fair few txts from former Spurs teamates asking for a debrief on Ange and they will of course sing his praises and tell them he is the real deal which will help their squad be open to his methods (much like Tam did for our guys)

  15. It didn't when MoN left, it didn't when Henrick left, it didn't when Tam left, we gave them all fitting goodbyes. The uncertainty and speculation is what created the distraction on Saturday.

  16. We were heavily linked with him before signing Ange. Don't know if it was genuine interest or just paper talk, he went to Parma in May 21 and was sacked by November and that's his only job as a manager of a senior team.

Wouldn't be thrilled if we got him.
