Yeah and you could hear him saying it to the player. £45 million then.

Disagree. Maeda is not as good as Hatate or Furuhashi in terms of technical ability, yet he is called up routinely. The Japanese NT manager prefers pace over technical ability.

Meanwhile, Brighton have to actually get to CL spots for Hatate to be in greater danger of leaving.

I take all this with a pinch of salt. Reo has unfinished business here as I’m sure he’ll want another crack at the Champions League.

He’ll leave for a far more illustrious club than Brighton FFS.

I don’t even want him near the soulless premier league. I can genuinely see him going to one of the top 3 clubs in La Liga.

I wouldn't want Hatate going anywhere, not for the foreseeable anyway.
It would be a red line for me.

I get the mentality mate, but it's a bit antiquated. Instead, it's Brighton; who play in the EPL, currently in route for automatic Europa qualification, could jump Liverpool if they won their game in hand, and who could bluff that they have CL in their sights (bullshit, but mathematically accurate!) More money, more profile, great chance of a springboard into a top-notch club/international team, without the bullshit bias against Scottish League

Still, can't see him going though! Not yet!

REO HATATE is set to miss Celtic’s return to Premiership action at Dingwall on Sunday to ensure he’s 100-per-cent for the Old Firm derby which could effectively seal two-in-a-row.

But Greg Taylor, managing an Achilles issue which saw him miss Scotland duty, and Daizen Maeda, who chose to return early from being with the Japan squad, are expected to be available for the game against Ross County.

Liel Abada and Aaron Mooy have also had fitness concerns and boss Ange Postecoglou isn’t prepared to take any unnecessary chances with the showdown against Rangers at Parkhead looming large on April 8.

Postecoglou will watch his stars closely in training over the next 48-hours before making final decisions about his squad to face the relegation-threatened Staggies.

The champions are currently nine points clear of bitter rivals Gers with only nine games left.

Postecoglou was left concerned when Japanese midfield idol Hatate pulled up with a suspected hamstring strain after just 13 minutes of the 3-1 win over Hibs a fortnight ago.

But it’s understood that it wasn’t a major problem and the two week international lay-off has greatly helped the hugely influential 25-year-old.

Hatate was spotted at Hampden taking in Scotland’s sensational 2-0 win over Spain.

Agreed it could be a stepping stone, but one good season in the ECL/Europa would do much more for your career than going to Brighton and hoping they can continue their form. These lesser EPL teams (no disrespect intended) have one good season, spend money unwisely then bottom out. You see it happening over and over again in the EPL.

I think he knows himself that he is capable at a much much higher level. Not blowing smoke up his * but I think he could easily walk into a Madrid team or top European team. I'd actually be gutted to see him in the EPL, especially Liverpool, City or United.

Reo and Aaron are progressing. They are not long term.

“We will see how training goes on Saturday, but they should be OK for next weekend.

“I didn’t really fear the worst with Reo. He was pretty cautious with it. I didn’t think it was anything significant.”

If this has any ounce of truth to it, the board need to be questioned. Going from a club selling for £20m-£25m to selling players for £10m?

That's regression not progression. I'm not one for over valuating our players but Hatate is the one that we SHOULD easily be getting £20m+ for.

I'd be surprised if it was less than 15 million but I do think we'll lose him this summer

He's one of the 3 players we cannot afford to lose unless it was a record breaking fee. I'm all for selling the likes of Abada, O'Riley etc but if we want to do anything in Europe next season Hatate is key to that. Finding a player of his quality for a similar fee again is like catching lightning.

Truth is we will never advance in the UCL if we sell off out strongest players before they get a chance to actually do anything in Europe. There are players we can afford to offload and replace with players of simmilar quality and there are the likes of CCV, Cal, Hatate possibly Jota and Kyogo who if we sell it will be almost impossible to find their level of talent for what we can pay.

In fairness, we're not actually LOSING the players if we're moving them.on in accordance with our recruitment structure, which is currently working very well for us. If we continue to sign/sell players the way we have and keep making CL we're going to keep seeing improvement.

We just cannot expect top-level players to stay in our league, when they're getting at best stifled, and at worst virtually assaulted, week on week for lesser wages and profile. No matter how impressed/in love with the club, the SPFL is toxic to their careers. Showing them that we'll provide the platform for them to go onwards to the upper level of their careers/rejuvenate from slumps is the best we can offer. Until UEFA put together European leagues that actually allow us to progress, I can't see that changing

Edit: worth remembering that the 1st time in ages we deviated from our current model due to 10iar/COVID some players phoned it in, and played a huge factor in our fall that year
