Tomoki Iwata

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by Notorious, Dec 30, 2022.

  1. I think he could easily play in the number 8 role for us imo.

Probably no point this season whilst we have O'Riley and Mooy, but assuming O'Riley leaves in the summer, a midfield 3 of McGregor, Iwata and Hatate could be fantastic.

Looks a very tidy player on what I've seen so far. Only issue is he plays the McGregor role and the fact we call it the McGregor role means he's gonna struggle to cement a piace in the team there. In some games it will benefit us moving McGregor further forward but McGregor is a stand out in his position

  3. Simon Ferry's a *..

  5. Fatboab on KDS said the same but not sure how itk he is around the club.

But out of all our signings this season he's the one I loved finding games to watch him play. I think he's a cracking wee player and will go on and prove it here.

  6. Just felt like pointing it out again :giggle1:

Watched loads on him and been one of his biggest cheerleaders from everything I've seen. He's gonna be class. Zero doubts..

  7. He's shown already though that he can play and change things and allow McGregor to play on the more advanced he used to until he was brought back. Yes, he is in competition bits it's not a simple direct competition as there's flex in there as we've seen already

  8. Some going if he's better than Reo. I hope Ange plays him against the huns

  9. Really like him..

One dodgy pass i think he had but apart from that slotted in with ease and was very cool. Could've had an assist if Kyogo pulled the trigger with his right first half also..

  10. Was expecting a lot more from him tbh. Other than the superb turn in 1st half, I thought he was quite poor but then so were most so will cut him some slack given his lack of game time.

  11. Definitely wasn't poor mate, other than one slack pass he strolled that game. He was making very clever runs beyond and our players weren't playing him through that's not his fault. He's a defensive player I'd rather he wasn't flashy, did what he was supposed to do.

  12. I like how he passes forward with aggression and pace. Fires it in to feet.

  13. He is an absolute tank and his defending/covering other players naturally is * superb. Like, literally absolutely superb. His defensive mind is * brilliant. He’s tidy, and he chooses his moments to support the front of the pitch.

  14. Covers the midfield brilliantly and definitely better defensively than Calmac, worked better when Cal was deeper next to him. They suffocated our midfield at times so was tough to play through.

  15. The best of our midfield 3 for long spells until Cal upped his game in the 2nd half and Turnbull came on and played well.

  16. Weird how differently people can interpret games. Someone saying he was poor, while I thought he was our best player overall. Would like to see him being a bit more confident with his attacking play but he's shown to be a reliable player.

  17. Maybe I’m being a tad harsh in my hungover state and my expectations were too high from a few people saying he was possibly the best of the Japanese lads we’ve brought in which is obviously too early to call either way. Will need to watch the game back again but I thought he was slack in possession a few times. Agreed that he defo looks solid defensively & his turn in the 1st half was exceptional.

  18. Thought he was excellent first half and just ok in the second. Doubtful he'll get the game time to build up any sort of rhythm this season but in time will be a huge player.

  19. Whole side looked better when McGregor dropped back with him..
