Its a bit of panic buying but also a lot of unimaginative scouting. By not looking past the English leagues they're paying inflated prices. Just look:

Lafferty 3m+ (i think), no better than Sammy 1.2m
Miller (anything above free is a joke) no where near as good as Skippy
Velika 1m , decent at best, will do a job, not as good as JVoH
Edu 2.8m for a real unknown quantity, as Beasly has shown, Yanks = big rep, little reward
Bouhgerra 2.5m good buy i think, but come with less rep the our man Glen also 2.5m
Pedro 2.5m best buy, but our boy Crosas is just as good with far higher potential, 400k
Wee Spanish guy - Unknown, Paddy MCourt - unknown, but both come with high regards
Davis, good player 3m, Maloney better player 1m.

So after they spend near 20mil, we'll have spent around 5m and will still have the better squad and team. So am I worried? * off.

they're outspending us because they know our squad is far better than theirs but the question is why are we letting them close the gap between us?

I'm just gonna be quietly patient and put my faith in the management. I'm sure WGS has been searching hard for new players, and our last two performances show that the search needs to be intensified. Loosening the purse strings a wee bit wouldn't do any harm either.

IMO selling cuellar was a good move you dont need a great CB to win the SPL just a good 1 and now they are spending that money of sum good midfield players , also i dont think we are waiting for the right player i just dont think we are willing to spend decent money to get the right players , 3.5 million is nothing for a team with a turnover of over 70 mill .

Agree with most of these comments, we simply do not have a chairman or board like the Huns who are willing to pull out all the stops when the team are struggling.

Yes, we will be more financially stable and sustainable, but what fan really cares about that when we are seeing them spending and us, as per always, resting on our laurels, gambling with the squad which won the title by the narrowest of margins.

That is nonsense, last season we were struggling and our chairman pulled out the stops to buy Samaras, Robson and HInkel which definelty helped us on our way to winning the leauge.

Bottom line is Rangers aren't improving on last season and we are. They sold Cuellar therefor still need to build their defence round Davie Weir who cant last another season without getting found out. Wait till the first Old Firm game and decide how good Bougherra and Mendes are when they are really tested. The Rangers are not as good as a side as us. They did panic buy to fill their midfield and defence - we have not panic bought and are not finished buying yet. (we always wait till the last few days when the price drops dramtically on players) Peter Lawell knows what he is doing in the transfer market. All we need is to get a bit of form going to show how superior we are to that lot. Rangers will crumble again like last season, because they are not any better than last season

Rangers are outspending us because they've had to sell their best player. The gap in net spend is nowhere near as big.I'll wait till the end of the window to judge our activity and I think it's foolish to do otherwise.

i mean loovens/crosas/mccourt/sammaras they dont exactly excite me.
not compared to the players we were linked to early on.

Simple answer being Murrays balls would be on a platter

would you rather Celtic sold Boruc or McGeady so that we could spend some money cos thats the reason Rangers are spending cos they sold their best player simple as

All we need is someone to inject a bit of urgency into our players and kick * if they slacken.
We're still a good team but prone to falling asleep at vital times.

i agree with that, they've lost one of their few quality players while we've held onto ours so who cares if they're signing players if they have to sell their best players to do so

The difference here is they are financially crippled and any money they get from player sales should be swallowed up by their debt, but it hasn’t been. They are spending money and IMO they have improved their side from last season.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

However I really couldn’t care a jot what they do, it is all about us. So far we have not improved the first team and that is both disappointing and unacceptable IMO. We still have time to strengthen and if we don’t it’s a * take.

We have money to spend, in fact our budget has been boosted by agreeing a settlement deal with Tommy G plus the extra bonus money we will receive from the CPL due to the Huns being skelpt.

We don’t need to sell players to invest in the team or so everyone has thought.

If the truth is we don’t have the money then "yes" personally I would sell an asset to raise funds. It would enable the team to be strengthened in other areas. For instance sell McGeady for 12 million and buy Maloney and McFadden for a total outlay of 6-7 million that would soften McGeady´s departure plus give us 6 million to spend on another position.

Nobody wants to sell their best players but it seems we are not competing, for quality players within the transfer market (That can only be down to one thing, lack of money). If we continue to deal the way we have been then I would be willing to take one step back to take two or thee steps forward. IMO that’s exactly what the Huns have done, however as I said earlier it’s not about what they do. All that matters is what Celtic do and so far for me its not been enough.
