I don’t think it’s remarkable at all when you watch how he strikes the ball.

Every single fkin time he side foots it without any force as if he’s sacrificing that for placement.. and he’s not.

It looks like someone taking a shot into a toddler.

Will he turn it around again this season?

Low on confidence and just looks out of sorts a lot of the time..

If he keeps up the way he is then I can't see him getting back in ahead of Mooy much..

A top player who hasn't been at it for too long now and I don't think he's reacted well to either his loss of form or having to fight for his place in the team..

Thing with Matt is he's so young, never going to be as consistent as McGregor or Mooy

Or going by the performance tonight, the loss of Jenz :fear:

I think he's been quality overall though in his time here so far and has great potential but as Mr Shelby said he's absolutely not ready for a big move the now. So hopefully more to come from him this season and next.

Seems to have lost his way completely in the last 3/4 months. Although he did have a few good performances in the absence of McGregor.

He's a very good player, we've seen enough of him already to know that is true. I guess we have to remember that most young players will go through these sticky patches, but he's worth persevering with based on previous form.

He's a weird player, lots of great attributes. His playmaking, intelligence on the ball, awareness, and tackling are all excellent when he's on song. But he's not particularly strong, he's slow, is prone to losing the ball cheaply and can't shoot to save his life. So lots to work with and lots to work on. I think his lack of physicality will hold him back at the highest level but his good traits will take him very far, provided he works on the rest.

This is purely conjecture but I think he was kind of spooked by playing against quality players in the CL. Let's not forget he was in League One a year ago. I genuinely think that it knocked his confidence a bit. He said as much in some of the interviews, talking about how the "team" struggled with self belief and confidence on the big stage.

He was miles off it in Europe, so it wouldn't surprise me if an element of self doubt has crept in since.

He is very, very, young. Easy to forget because of how mature he is.

Hopefully this period of pressure to win back his place improves him because he’s definitely not a lost cause. The fact he came in last season and hit the ground running was unusual for such a young guy and this lull was always going to happen at one point.

David Turnbull was our best player one season at a younger age than O'Reilly. Turnbull hasnt found that form again and the same could happen to O'Reilly.

O’Riley came in the door at 21 and was a major part of us winning the league, particularly the Huns game he was thrown into the deep end at Parkhead.

There’s similarities there definitely but neither player should be written off.

His form and confidence dipped when covering for McGregor in sitting mid as he struggled at times especially Europe.

He’ll come good but he’s a young player that’s lost his confidence, can take a while to get it back. Rogic went through patches of doing nothing at all and then suddenly burst into life.

I get the feeling a goal would do his confidence the world of good.

For whatever reason it's just not working for him right now.

He's young, it happens. What i hope is he shows the right attitude and realises that working hard here and improving is the best thing for him, rather than nipping off down south. It would do him the world of good to have another couple of seasons here refining his game and improving that consistency.

I still expect to see a lot of him despite recent slump in form.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was something personal going on causing drop in motivation.
Couple of games back I thought he looked unwell, no energy etc
This strange exchange with Hatate when coming on was a bit concerning (although could've been completely accidental)

Love watching him. Low on confidence now for sure. He has all the attributes to go high as he wants in the game. His pass for Jota's goal against that lot was sublime

    Yep..

Interceptions and breaking up play he'll likely be up there as well..

Hopefully he gets back to where he was. A top talent..
