Thought he was absolutely fine. Got done early on but so did Johnstone. People picking what they want to see.

Agree he probably needs more time but if I'm honest I can't see him ever taking the position from Taylor..

Need’s time like Taylor got, he’s not going to improve by sitting on the bench

Was dodgy early on but so was Johnston. Thought he did well second half and never hides.

Defo rough around the edges but think he'll develop into a solid signing.

    * first half, very good second half.

I've said from early on there is definitely a player in there, but needs a bit of coaching and work.

As others have touched on, Taylor was far from the finished article when he signed and it took him a while to get up to speed, I'm sure Bernebei will get better the longer he's here working under Ange.

We paid over 3 mil for the guy, how much more time/coaching does he need ?

Hopefully the guy comes good, but at this stage was honestly hoping for a more complete player tbh.

I still don't think his best position is as a FB as he can't tackle, isn't great at tracking back and is a bit on the small side so is always liable to be outdone in the air. He looks good on the ball at times when we are on the attack however, his main duties as a defender is to defend and he is seriously lacking in that department.

Aye I echo your frustrations with Bernabei, we probably should be getting a more polished article for the money.

The only defense I could give Bernabei is that when he's had a good game, the next game he's on the bench and probably not given a fair run in the team to keep his form up.

Ange's style and system seems to be he asks guys to come in and do a job and they seem to do it relatively seamlessly, so Bernebei coming in looking dodgy goes against that.

Taylor was dodgy for a long time but he got played week in week out because we had no real replacement or back up, and Bernabei is only 22.

Hope he does improve sooner rather than later.

Aye I agree with that, I kinda thought the same with Taylor, I worried about his lack of height and physicality, maybe argued that he'd be a better centre mid, but the good thing with Ange's set up is that out full backs basically become centre mids when we have the ball.

Bottom line is Bernabei has a * of a lot to learn.

3mil is absolute buttons in the grand scheme of things. 30mil doesn’t get you a complete player in most instances let alone 3mil.

Every player in our squad bar McGregor needs coaching to improve further.

I use the word complete loosely, as in being able to do the basics, like a safe player.

3 mil is a lot of money in SF, maybe not elswhere, we work within a certain budget, 3 mil on a player is not buttons.

Grand old team to play for
At this stage, I think Ange is doing the right thing with him. Playing him in home games where we're going to have a lot of the ball. And leaving him out of the tougher games. He a good attacking full back, but needs to improve the defensive side of his game.

Reading up on his stats, not including todays game, he’s averaged winning 89% of his aerial duels - about 2.32 a game.

Greg Taylor is 84% and about 2.04 a game.

And McGregor himself would majorly disagree with you there, it’s why he’s regularly hailed as by far the hardest trainer in the squad.

Hahahaha, I consistently said Taylor was *, nowhere near good enough for Celtic etc, and now who's the *. Taylor has been our best player this season as far as I'm concerned.

Ralston as well, I couldn't understand how a guy who got loaned out to St Johnstone and never set the heather on fire at all could suddenly come in and do a job for Celtic, and he's been solid.

Mooy I knew would be a good signing haha, a free signing, experienced, Australian (had previous with Ange and his system). He's turning into a * great signing, I didn't predict how big a part he would play.
