Messi

  1. Agree with everything here. Nobody comes close for me.

Actually got a bit sad watching that video. There were about 5-6 years when I watched basically every single Barca game just to see Messi play. Watching that back makes me appreciate how much he has declined, even tho he's still arguably the best in the world. What a privilege it was and is to watch him play - I'll be surprised if anyone ever comes close in my lifetime. He's the player I'll be telling my sons about.

  2. Me too mate. Anyone in love with the game and art of football simply has to appreciate him. There's some people who think he's overrated believe it or not; that's my cue to walk away from the conversation. From about 2011 until he left Barca I pretty much watched every game just to see him play. I doubt we'll get another player like Messi in my lifetime.

I wish I could've saw him live more. Got to see him vs Chelsea in the CL around 08/09 though, I was about 14 or something and he was majestic. That whole Barca team was tbf. Him and Dani Alves vs Ashley Cole who was one of the best LB's in the world at that time was a treat.

  3. Ronaldo Nazario enters the chat........

  4. The free kick he scored against Villarreal at El Madrigal is one of the best free kicks I’ve ever seen. He actually cuts across it and pings it into the top bag.

There isn’t a debate with Ronaldo. There isn’t a debate with anyone. He’s the greatest there has ever been. I really really hope he stays in Europe next year and manages to win the World Cup this year.

Withiut a doubt, he deserves it.

  6. Mad to think what he and Ronaldinho could have done if they had more seasons together

  7. Greatest of all time imo.

Really hope he lifts this WC, of only just to see Ronaldo bust a *.

As much as I love Messi as a player, Ronaldinhio is my favourite (non Celtic) player of all time. Just a pure joy to watch, and his attitude towards ENJOYING the game was so special. Definitely something I miss. A world class player on the world stage who just looks delighted to be there, rather than these moody * mincing about looking like dropped all their sweets.

  8. Most of the old players would be too knackered to get near them tbh, the fitness levels now are incredible. Even listening to players who retired mid 2000’s to now is crazy.

  9. That assist ....:notworthy

  10. There’s a Birds Eye view video of it and it just blows your mind.

He plays football as if he has Bernard’s Watch and can stop time, he spots things in a fraction of a second no other player would even contemplate.

  11. That 90 minutes was another absolute masterclass, the assist was outrageous and then showed balls of steel with his penalty. He’s still without doubt the best in the game and he’s rolling back the years at this tournament, playing like a guy possessed.

  12. He's been player of the tournament without a doubt so far. Nobody else has carried a team like him. Every game he is the only Argentina player who creates anything, not just in his goals and assists but simple things like wee body swivels or slipped passes between the lines.

Just an absolute genius and I'm desperate for him to finally win the world cup.

  13. That is why Morocco will win. They are an entire team. One unit. One goal. A true team will conquer an individual.

  14. I want nothing more than for Argentina and Messi to win the World Cup but France will cake walk to that trophy.

  15. Argentina Morocco Final incoming.

  16. We will never see the likes of it again. 35 and skipping past the best centre back in the tournament likes he’s a wee boy. Incredible
