Official TC Match Thread: Dundee Utd v Celtic

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by gary b, Aug 13, 2008.

  1. I'm going to put myself in the role of WGS' assistant and put up a formation that should work. GK: Boruc LCB:O'Dea, CB:McManus, RCB: Loovens(if he is solid on the ground, that might do it.) LM: Robson, LCM: Crosas, RCM. Hartley, RM: McGeady, AM: Nakamura, LCF:Hutchinson, RCF: JVoH.

  2. I really hope so too.

  3. i think pendrey has your job

  4. Wilson and Hinkel were complete shambles. What game have you been watching if you think they did well? Useless, both * useless in attack. Hinkel lost the ball so many times, Wilson had no idea how to cooperate with McGeady on left. Both sloppy in defence, Wilson playing with the ball in penalty area then losing the ball - there should have been penalty in that situation. Then Hinkel completely lost in penalty area in situation when Dundee scored.
When it comes to attack, I was going to say that McDonald is getting better, seems more active but this late miss was truly pathetic, he is still in poor shape. VoH should have score in one on one opportunity (admit, Zaluska made really good save). Strachan should have made substitutions much earlier.

Next time put Caddis on the right and buy * real LB. McDonald on the bench, Samaras in.

I know. If I had a full number of player to choose from, McGeady would be on the bench.

  5. FS man.. take a chill pill....
two games into a new season and you want Strachan to *??
    You've got a short memory...

  6. Id say the same to you. Playing like this against mediocre SPL sides. They havent improved like some of you believe. This thing has been happening for the past year and a half. Nothing has changed.

Playing Robson on the right wing again and again. Just proves to me I dont want him as a manager. End of. And I supported Strachan through thick and thin for years. No more.

  7. short memory ?

i've never wanted strachan mate, its no as if i loved him last year when he won the league.

im no anti-strachan like some people, i just feel he doesn't get the best out of his players.

  8. Some of you * need to get a grip.Like little girls screaming in panic.Chill the * out. Some of the comments here are laughable.

  9. Just in from work.

I obviously know it was 1-1.

Don't know the team and don't know how the game went.

I will guess we created * all.
I will guess NAYLOR or HINKEL sold the goal.
I will guess Strachan made excuses after the game.

I have said all summer we need another striker.

First two games of SPL, 2 goals scored.

Hamilton PUMPED Dundee United last week, and created about 10 clear cut chances.

How many shots on target did we have today ??

Maybe we are to busy laughing at the Huns instead of getting our own house in order.

    STRIKER REQUIRED.

Hopefully it will improve with Loovens and Crosas.

  10. Strachan tried to say we played well in the post match interviews too. The guys lost the plot, were a shambles. Hinkel and Wilson might be the worst full backs ever, Mcgeadys * the now and Mcdonald is the same. Then * why does Strachan bring on a striker in the 87th minute where the * is that going to get us, different if it was somebody like Pavlechenko aye ye have a chance but Samaras aye a dont think so :38:

  11. Paul Hartley? Caldwell until today.

  12. The worst statement i have read on this forum mate he is our best player and only player that can change a game

  13. Where has the passion we developed last season disappeared to?! Seemed to me like nobody on that field were overly bothered. Things have got to change ffs. We will not get away with the league this season through a series of mediocre performances at the best. The team seriously need to step it up a gear and be proud to be wearing the jersey! Really disappointing.

Can't say I'm too worried yet. I'm confident they'll pull it together. People who are already calling for Strachan to go need to wise the * up, frankly.

  14. Yes, but he's tired. I'd rest him if Mizuno or McCourt were healthy.

  15. he doesn't get the best out of paul hartley fs.

he plays him well out of position, he's a very good attacking midfielder and a very * defensive mid.

  16. very poor game for us today,,too many not pulling their weight,,gaffer needs to drop a couple of players to give them a fright....

caldwell back to playing pish the day again,,should have been a penalty, canny believe him jumping into tackles like that in the box.i blame him for the goal as well,he should have shut down the front post instead of marking thin air,,big loovens willnae find it hard to get his jersey....

  17. First away game I've been to that hasn't been at Hampden/Ibrox. Amazing atmosphere, too bad about the result though. Thought there was a 20 min spell in the 2nd half where we looked really good and if Jan had buried his chance it would've been 3pts in the bag.

After that, well the back 4 went from all having an ok/good performance to a poor one but I'm sure we're going to improve although we still need a couple of signings in my oppinion.

Besides it wouldn't be Celtic if we got 6/6 from the opening two days, we like to do things the hard way.

  18. Paul Hartley's legs have gone. That's the reason why he's now a holding midfielder.

  19. Tannadice is one of the hardest places to go to get a result in the SPL.It's not the disaster some are making it out to be.I'm embarassed by some of the comments on this thread.
