  5. Nicholson has shown how you can work inside a budget while still strengthening the squad to the managers needs..

Lawwell's long history of sitting on his * and doing * all has been rightfully exposed.

  8. Was thinking about this today. There is no going back now, we are setting a precedent with the current setup that future ones will be measured against.

Ange was never about simply coming in to win games of football, he's making sure the entire structure is strengthened for the benefit of the future. Nicholson must be pinching himself getting to learn his role alongside such an elite football man. Hopefully what he learns working with Ange he retains after the big man moves on.

  14. Why did we bother with Lawwell for 17 years when we had this guy here since 2013? He's shown how to properly address the transfer window. Good work and one reason why I can really say for the first time since 15 years or so, we actually acted professional doing our transfer business, acting in time and prepare before the season started! With this attitude I, for a long time, can see us getting into the Champions League regularly.

  15. Plus half the team isn't made up of loan deals with no options, that we know we are losing, so we are left starting from scratch (never mind being able to strengthen) every summer before going into qualifiers (if required). I can't even begin to guess how much income that has cost us over the years.

  16. He was given a really nice reception on the last day of the season when we were given the trophy. Fans were really impressed by his work in January and the way he seemed to back Ange. Genuinely hope he gets a big * cheer when we are getting that league trophy next season, big man absolutely deserves it.

  17. See what happens when you don't put your ego first, but that of the group, the team and the club first. Hiring the right people and believing in their trust, skills and knowledge to get the job done right, with a coherent, viable and sustainable plan for the club go ahead.

This is how you run a club. Zero complaints so far in this regard.

  18. What a first 12 months he's had.

Happily be the first in line to absolutely slate the board and Peter lawwal at any opportunity. Collectively they really did hold us back big time.

    But Nicholson, different breed.
    * shocked still that this guy was on the board and the word choice that bankier etc used when appointing him last year.
Screamed of a yes man appointment who would toe the party line.

But so far, not a chance.

Legit looks like a guy who's running a football club like a football club that has ambition to succeed and progress.
Not one that just wants to make up the numbers and scoot by with bare minimal effort.

Time will tell if these good feelings can be fully confirmed. But as we stand today, the morning after his second transfer window, he's doing a fantastic job.

The doubts? That with the potential of qualifiers later on, is he likely to adopt a more "spend once we get it" approach, or will he keep going with this backing of the manager and spending to accumulate method?

I'm hopeful and expecting the later for sure.

Sensible deals being made as well.
Loans with options to buy, loans with mandatory buys (see maeda, basically allowing the player the chance to settle).
Proper long term contracts, knowing the worth of the players but also the worth to the team.
5 year deals, allows a year to bed in, then two years to completely dominate, before leaving with two years left on a deal so we can command top dollar.

No projects, no players forced on the manager.

    Superb.

    Keep it up big man.

    If reported fees are true

Done some quick maths from ange took over in June 2021
