    Celtic star Alexandro Bernabai has been arrested following an incident in Glasgow city centre.

    The 21-year-old was taken into custody in the early hours of Monday morning.

    Police refused to confirm details of the incident amid claims the left-back had been arrested for an alleged drink-driving offence.

    It has also been alleged he was involved in a breach of the peace bust-up.

    Bernabai - £3.75m summer signing - was taken to Stewart Street police station, sources claimed.

    The arrest came just hours after Celtic beat Kilmarnock 5-0 at Rugby Park where he was an unused substitute.

    The former Lanus player was released from custody on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

    A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 21-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this morning, Monday, August 15 in Glasgow City Centre.

    “Enquiries are ongoing.”

    Celtic have been approached for a comment.

    Listen, IF He's done something wrong, I'm sure he'll get it tight aff Ange and the rest of the higher up figures at CP.

    Maybe one thing to remember, he's only 21, never played outside of Argentina (where it's pretty much * do what you want country) and obviously the Argies themselves are generally * mental.

    Plenty of us that grew up with the laws of this land were still(are) breaking them, so aye IF he's done something let's no get the torches and pitchforks out just yet...

    Probably can't believe his agent lied to him. "Aye you'll get the left back spot off that we guy.." then turns up to see little messi in his spot. Had a swig of mouthwash to drown his sorrows and drove home. These things happen. Last warning though or he will be shipped out.

    Aye I'm not going to slaughter him. Calmac had a similar incident before and look how he turned out. Hope it's not so serious that it ruins his career here before its even started.

    Young guy does a daft thing, meh.

    Pretty sure our captain was done for drink driving in the past. He'll be penalised and rightly so but let's not sensationalise it too much.

    I will never EVER understand footballers & drink driving, they have enough money to buy a taxi firm over never mind a feckin cab across the city, lost someone close to me due to dangerous driving so these stories hit home hard.
