    A Heron.

I felt sad but reassured (animals shouldn't trust humans) when it flew away after it saw me.

Landed down the back of a wee pond thing with the swans and ducks (but amongst reeds and out of sight of them) after I'd passed.

Might seem lame to some but it was nice to see something like that.

A friend rang me yesterday to go out and have a look at what turned up on a tree in his garden, it was about the size of a rugby ball, he rang a local beekeeper who came out and took them away, he didn't get them all and what was left behind have already formed a new ball, (apparently called a Bearding).

I have a friend who knows nothing about wildlife, especially birds. He asks me nearly every year if I enjoy the Summer because of the sunshine and how it must be good for birding. He's surprised when I tell him I don't like the summer. In all the years I've been birdwatching, I don't like the Summer. Not much to see, due to the leaves on the trees, and if it's hot, there's even less to see.

Thanks Bucky, i was quite close to them actually, i was underneath the branch they were on, i was reading that before they swarm they gorge themselves on honey and that makes them quite docile.

A few from yesterdays walk along the shore at Portavade, the weather has been pretty dismal here for a few weeks with constant showers and dull overcast and windy days but i still go out in the morning for a trot along the beach or to a couple of local lochs for a look.
