    Can tell Ange is gutted.

Need to hope that Guchi, Hatate and O'Riley can step forward. I dont have too many doubts over Bitton actually, but he's still not Calmac

If they had been called up for Japan, he might have played both of them. I think that’s why Maeda and Rogic both played 90mins tonight.

I agree but unfortunately it looks like it is only Rogic and Maeda who have been called up for international duty so that’s only 2 players

I wouldn't ask for a postponement because as it stands they have players out too.

Better to play them now when both sides are losing key players than to postpone it another few weeks and then we still have mcgregor and kyogo out and they have their players back. IMO.

    * *. We’ve absolutely no luck whatsoever.

McGregor and Kyogo, two of our best players sidelined for weeks / months.

This transfer window isn’t shut yet. Get rid of Soro, Ajeti, Boli etc and get another couple in to make sure we’ve got enough quality to fight for this title.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU says that the facial injury Callum McGregor picked up in the Scottish Cup win over Alloa is ‘significant’, and he expects to be without his captain for a quite some time.

McGregor was forced from the action after Alloa’s Adam King clattered into the side of his head as the pair challenged for a high ball, with the Celtic skipper looking dazed as he was helped from the field.

While reluctant to put a timescale on McGregor’s possible absence, the Celtic manager did concede that he doesn’t expect him to be back in action any time soon.

“Cal's a significant injury,” Postecoglou said. “It's a facial injury, I don't know what it is but he's not a great shape. It's not going to be a short-term, it looked significant.

"It's been that sort of season. We have just had challenge after challenge and what we've done so far is just get on with it. He's a very important player, not just for what he contributes as a footballer, but as a person. I am gutted for him more than anything else.”

When asked if the injury would rule McGregor out of the Rangers game on February 2nd, Postecoglou replied: "We've got a game Wednesday night, you guys can talk about the fictitious future that might arise, but the game on Wednesday night is all we are focused on and he won't play Wednesday night, which is a blow.

    "I am not a doctor. There's a point I can't go beyond. It's a significant injury.

"That's been our season. There's not been a weekend where I have everyone available, maybe it's still to come. We just have to get on with it.

That's the point I was trying to make earlier.

We rotated half the team. This wasn't a Kyogo vs Betis situation. McGregor is our captain will naturally play most games. Rodgers and Lennon played Brown in every cup game too. Its not uncommon. We've just had a winter break, he'll have rested plenty and we still need our players sharp for the upcoming games.

Unfortunately McGregor got smashed on the head by a thug. It wasn't a muscle injury caused by over reliance or fatigue. Would it have been Ange's fault if Starfelt, Hart or Abada or Rogic got injured too?

I blame Ange and the medical team for Kyogo's injuries. But it's very harsh to blame him for what happened to McGregor tonight.

Sorry mate but that’s not bad luck, that’s bad management!!! They should not have been played in meaningless games or a game that the reserves could have won. Kyogo got injured in a European game that had no meaning and then tonight, McGregor.

Personally think the team that pays your wages should have first say over whether they stay with the team before international duty, a know players obviously want to represent their country but ffs surely Australia don’t need big Tam to beat fkin Vietnam this week

    Gutted. Absolutely massive blow.

Simply shouldn’t have started today, and I thought the same the moment I saw the lineup. Simply an unnecessary risk with the run of games just around the corner. If you can’t rest him against Alloa, with such an important run of games just around the corner, when can you rest him?

Wonder will we dwell into the transfer market to add a bit of depth.

imagine they pulled up injured in the warm up if they didn’t I don’t think McGregor plays if O’Riley is cleared to play. We had made 5 changes or so can’t change too much for me. Can play Jota in the Rogic role for me and have Hatate And Bitton in there. He’s a massive loss no doubt. So what if we didn’t play McGregor etc and lost the game?

Why are some folk so quick to jump on Ange ffs, freak injury and we've just come off a winter break so it's not like he's desperate for a rest. Might have thought it would be good to bed in ideguchi with experience around him

People actually having a go at the manager for playing the captain in a cup game. Could have happened against anyone.

Not a Kyogo situation where the game was meaningless. Hopefully the new signings are capable of filling the gap.

I agree mate, people just assume it’s only fkn Alloa just throw in our full second string,Bain scales Welsh Montgomery bitton McCarthy, soro, Johnson GG etc we should still beat them , doesn’t work like that, guys that have played together all flung together whether individually they are better players than Alloa just doesn’t work
