Japan Times Journo throws doubt on the credibility of the source. Still hope theres something in it tho. Maeda just scored his third hat trick of the season recently as well

Daizen Maeda is determined to make his Japan chance count alongside Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Yokohama F.Marinos striker has taken over Kyogo's mantle as the J-League's main marksman since the latter joined Celtic in the summer.

He's banged in 21 goals this season and forced his way back into the Japan squad for the first time in two years.

He bagged a treble against FC Tokyo and Ange Postecoglou is eyeing up a January move for the hitman, who is starring for his old club.

And the Celtic boss may get a look at what he can do alongside Kyogo as they are both in the squad for World Cup qualifiers with Vietnam and Oman.

Maeda is excited about the prospect of playing alongside the Hoops star, whose double against Dundee at the weekend took him to 13 goals in just 18 games.

Maeda said: "It's been a long time coming for me to get back into the international squad. I've had to work very hard to get here

I played in the Olympics in the summer, but didn't score so I am very determined to do well for the full squad.

Of course, it will be a very tough fight for me to try and get into the team. Kyogo Furuhashi is doing extremely well and scoring goals in Scotland it would be nice to play with him.

"But the most important thing for us is to get six points from these two very difficult away games."

Kyogo will be aiming to add to his three international goals this week when he wins his 11th cap for Japan. He has previously scored against Tajikistan and netted a double against Mongolia...although Japan did win that game 14-0.

Is that a subtle "come and get me" plea to Ange?

The fee for Kyogo was high for a player moving from the J league and he had been performing well for about 3 years.

A good comparison was one of the other top players Mitoma who left Kawasaki for £2.7m to Brighton. Also Onaiwu left Yokohama Marinos for around £700k so I would expect Maeda to be somewhere between £2-3m tops.

I'd read £1m. But would imagine double that probably.

    Still a potential bargain there.

I honestly thought they would look across at the Kyogo deal and want similar money. Either way, he looks as if he would be worth it. 21 goals is impressive.

The thing is Kyogo had a strong track record over a few seasons, Maeda has really broke through this one. Length left on contract will
also be a factor, I can’t see it being as much as £4.5m.
