We signed Brown as a youngster, a young attacking midfielder. Like a Turnbull.

    That’s not experienced.

I'd settle for any sort of central defender (on loan or otherwise ) at the moment...maybe Duffy fancies another season ?
Delighted to see the back of Edouard tbh but only if we spend the money.

In terms of wingers not too worried now but there's huge holes at the back as we all know ...and still think we need a couple more nasty physical players in the mix. Our lads are too nice by half.

Correct. It even goes back further than Brown. Around the time we brought in Kouassi, the Celtic internet was begging for a CDM. We've never found one with the requisite quality whether it be a destroyer type or a ballplaying type. Everybody just seems to have forgot about it.

This current midfield doesn't work when teams apply pressure, and we need to start addressing it.

That would be a happy medium for me. We could use more, but that should see us till January.

That’s why I said, ‘Entering his prime’.

Let’s not be pedantic, you know exactly what I mean.

    - A midfielder in his prime, or about to enter his prime.
    - With some level of experience as a first team regular. A key player of responsibility for his current team.
    - A player his current team would be sorry to see go, because he’s on form and getting better.
    - With ambition to improve, sees his best days ahead of him.

You know, the basics that a winning club signs.

I don’t have a problem signing McCarthy, but it’s not a marquee midfield signing that we deserve and I know that you know that.

Bit of squad assessment for the day that’s in it..

    First 11:

    Hart

    Juranovic Jullien Starfelt Taylor

    McGregor Turnbull

    Abada Rogic Jota

    Kyogo

    Second 11:

    Bain

    Ralston Welsh Bitton Scales

    McCarthy Soro Shaw

    Forrest Giakumakis Montgomery

    Notable others:

    Ajeti

    Johnston

    Dembele

    Uroghide

    ——

it’s easy to see that Giakumakis and Jota are absolutely crucial to get over the line. Also very easy to see that we clearly need another defender. Even that is not enough but it may suffice until January when we can look at adding to the midfield and forward areas, not to mention left back.

He’s a miles better player than Scott Brown right now. Remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to make an impact.

“Remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to make an impact.”

Aye, exactly ffs mate. Why not go and spend some money on a midfielder that played 40 games last season for a winning team and the team are gutted to be losing him?

Are we content with players that may or may not get fit enough to play for us? What a * joke. People talk like it has to be this way. You’ve been conditioned to accept mediocrity.

Presuming the Greek and Jota are sitting waiting to be announced, we have got to be looking to tie up the other 2 minimum that’s been rumoured.

We are massively low on numbers with Eddy, Christie and Griff en route elsewhere.

I still feel there’s going to be a couple of interesting loans available from down south today - ideally a left back and centre half. Hopefully a solid interest in McCann as well but that appears to be more in hope than expectation at this point as it’s wholly supporter driven.

How much were the corona losses for us? I think we need to factor those in too(if there were any losses ofcourse).
