    Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce that it has reached agreement with Legia Warsaw for the transfer of Croatian defender Josip Juranovic, subject to the satisfaction of usual conditions and international clearance. On satisfaction and gaining clearance, Josip will sign on a five-year deal.

    As well as playing with Legia Warsaw, Josip also played for a number of seasons with Hajduk Split in Croatia.

    He will be the eighth new signing to join our first team squad in the current window, following Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Shaw, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, James McCarthy, Carl Starfelt and Kyogo Furuhashi.

    Josip is due to join up with his new team-mates at Celtic early in the coming week.

    Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou said: “We are absolutely delighted to be bringing Josip to the Club and we are sure he will be a great addition to the squad.

    “As I have said before, everyone at the club has been working hard to add to our squad and we have made good progress. I am really pleased to bring Josip in to support the rest of the boys.

    “We have so many challenges ahead of us and Josip will add important quality and depth. I am really looking forward to working with him.”

    After a year at the club, Josip Juranović leaves with Legia Warszawa. The Croatian hit Łazienkowska on July 31, 2020, after more than five years of playing for Hajduk Split. The offensive-minded defender almost immediately became a very important part of the Warsaw team. Juranović at the very beginning of his adventure with Legia was positioned on the right side of the defensive block, and then, after switching to the game with three stopwatches, the 26-year-old played in the right pendulum position. Last season, the Croatian scored eight assists, also adding one goal scored in the competition with Silesia Wrocław, thanks to which he contributed significantly to the Polish championship won by Legia Warszawa. In total, Josip Juranović made 41 appearances for the Warsaw team,


    A good game in Legia Warszawa allowed the side defender to attract the attention of the coach of the Croatian national team. Thanks to this, the 26-year-old together with the national team played at Euro 2020 and played two matches there (a 3: 1 match against Scotland and a loss in the 1/8 tournament with Spain - 3: 5 after extra time).



    The Croatian international successfully passed the medical tests and signed a contract with the 51-time Scottish champion, Glasgow Celtic. Josip, thank you for everything and good luck in the next steps in your career!
