The worst about it is, if we fail to get a real RB in the board will happily blame the market. Cuz of Covid obviously. Theyll rattle aff some pish about volitile markets and player wage demands etc etc.

But this is entirely to THEIR fault.

They've left this RB situation to linger and fester for so long that it's now known, ALL OVER EUROPE, that we NEED a right back.

Basically just giving teams and players carte blanche to hike up prices and wage demands. Most clubs will have a take it or leave attitude when dealing with us now.

Pure * incompetence.

 

I know this is all speculation but the deals we have recently been linked with.

Juranovic - £2.5m
Henry - Gent had a bid accepted just over £4m
Lovric - somewhere in the £4-5m bracket
Scales- £0.5m
Itakura - no price mentioned.

So for 4 of those positions to be filled we would need to spend around £11m, with Itakura being an unknown?

As has been mentioned before we already have sold about £4m more than we’ve brought in and looks like Hjelde is going for a 7 figure fee.

I imagine agents will be working hard on deals (at least loans) for Barkas, Bollingoli and Ajeti, not to mention Edouard and Christie’s situations, where I still expect one or both to go.

It sounds like Scales is done. Surely we could move forward with deals for Juranovic and either Lovric or Henry?

Itakura, I can somewhat understand the hold up as he’s not long finished at Olympics and will have a contract situation at City to sort, as if he is going to run it down they will want to sell him now, rather than loan.

 

Yup pretty much agree with you, we know most fees are split over X years but the sentiments are the same roughly £18m to £20m brought in if you include the Hejlde fee and roughly £13m paid out and he must have had a budget to start with aswell!

We happily coughed up £3M for Bolingoli, so we should be more than happy to do the same for Juranović surely to get him in?

 

We need him in pronto. I wouldnt start him tomorrow but he should start at the weekend and play next mid week so hes ready for the huns.

 

This seems to be the thing though we don’t seem to have a budget without sales.

It’s very hard just now not knowing how much was left in the bank after the COVID season but they did have £19.7m in the interim accounts at end of 2020.

This figure always comes down the second half of the season but hard to tell by how much this year but comparing to the previous a £10m-12m drop, there would still be a small surplus there.

We have another year of record season ticket sales, Europe to be decided but guaranteed within £2m of last year, however we are able to capitalise on match day again this year.

COVID has had a terrible impact on our finances but for clubs operating in our market there won’t be many in better position coming out of it. The only ones who will probably be better are those who have sold a lot of players for big money and not reinvested.

I am confident in this one though considering that Legia are actively in negotiations to sign his replacement.

 

I genuinely think there are teams that just look at players that we are linked with teams like fenerbache, galatasary, genk anderlecht etc. So im never confident of any signing man.

 

You really believe that, when they have seen the dross we have signed over the years? Yes we find a gem here and there but for every gem there are at least 5 duds... no way is anyone looking at our targets and thinking he will do with out scouting them proper first.

 

I reckon most teams of a same level will have databases of scout reports of players similar to ours. So i think it will be more drawing attention to players who may have been overlooked internally.
